Its still illegal to have the dark tint on the front windows. We use to write summons for it. When people put very dark tint on a car it was usually for a reason. We would often find other violations during the stop. While we did not have the light meter to determine the exact amount oft tinting, the local judge accepted that if we could not see the drivers hands on the wheel, then the window were too dark. He often said that the subject was free to appeal his decision but no one ever did. Word got around quick and we actually saw a reduction in tinted windows I don't know if it is still being enforced.

Andrew Cuomo's administration dotted New York with 514 highway signs touting its tourism programs despite a federal ruling explicitly prohibiting the state from doing so. Documents obtained by the USA Today Network's Albany Bureau show the Federal Highway Administration has repeatedly notified Cuomo's administration over the past three years that the signs violate federal and state law, which contain strict rules for what can and cannot be displayed on major roadways. But the state Department of Transportation and Thruway Authority appear to have ignored the warnings, rapidly expanding the signage across the state while federal officials continued to voice concerns. My only concern is that the policy includes " using heavy vehicles". Switzerland is not exactly the wide open spaces like Montana. I guess they have different liability laws there.

Just like when they took the "aluminum (4 D cell) kel lights" away from the LAPD and replaced them with plastic "Nerf lights" . They thought the aluminum lights could be used a a weapon. Although they were quite bright and quite effective.

i remember when many departments switched from Harleys to Kawasakis (remember CHiPs). They were supposed to be the wave of the future. They didn't hold up with the NY roads and it turned out there was defect that killed a few CHP Officers. Good luck I hope they work out for you.

The reason for the show is two fold. Air Disasters are very rare and as such they peak the curiosity of viewers. Unfortunately fires are too common and often limited to a brief story on the evening news and forgotten the next day. The second reason is the the government will spare no expense to recover the plane, reconstruct it, examine every detail of the incident and prepare a detailed report. Like a good detective novel, the investigators always find the cause(s). Incidents almost always take a year or more to investigate and issue a report. The report is extremely detailed. A TV producer can often take the NTSB report and write a screen play directly from the report.

All fire and police vehicles (not sure about NYC and Buffalo) have official plates assigned, however they are not required to display them. I remember the fleet manager having boxes of plates in a store room and going crazy when the vehicles were being disposed of. I believe that one of the fire departments had official plates on the deputy chief's suburban but removed them when they started getting bills for running the ezPass lanes when on thruway calls.

Unless there was a no layoff clause or a guarantee of employment as part of the contract, I don't believe that the contract being in effect would be relevant. Also, it depends on how they stopped paying them. If they abolished the job title of firefighter then it would be difficult to have a court overturn the action. That seems to be the reason they tried the court of public opinion/referendum route.

NYACK - A crane collapse has closed the Tappan Zee Bridge in both directions. The crane from the construction site of the new span of the bridge fell onto the old span shortly before noon on the Rockland side of the span. Part of the concrete guardrail on the side of the bridge has been smashed. Engineers are expected to come out and check the bridge to see if it's structurally sound. Crews are currently working to cut the crane up in order to remove it from the span. NEW YORK - A crane has collapsed across lanes of traffic at the Tappan Zee Bridge in the New York City suburbs. Video from a news helicopter showed at least one person being taken out of a car and loaded into an ambulance after the crane collapsed around noon Tuesday.
