I am thinking more along the lines of you fill up and have a prepaid account, that way you get a break on the price of fuel and more people turn out. Paying to respond like Greenwich does only works cause 3.4's of the people that live there make a couple million a year. Most places couldn't support that unless of course all the volunteers stuck together and didn't respond.
And at that point they would probably change over to a paid dept.

This is regarding the "Two in, two out" rule.
Example, Tones drop for a confirmed structure fire, engine-1 arrives on scene with 4 interior guys(none being FAST "certified") and a driver. No other unit has yet signed on.
The two guys standing by outside, are they considered a fast/rit team?

After looking through our rescue, I was wondering when the last time (if ever) any departments have had to use their plasma cutter, at a scene. Looking at the tip of ours, it looks as if it has never been used.
In addition, I have heard rumors that plasma cutting can NOT be used on boron reinforced steel, does anyone know if this is true?

Just wondering if anyone knows when Westchester County started referring to their Brush Trucks as Mini Attacks, and if they know the reason(s) for doing so?

I don't see anything wrong with hospitals truing people away if the resources are not adequite enough to handle the situation. They need to follow some sort of priority system.
