  1. You can not make turns in a private dwelling with a 2.5 try it you don't even need to flow water. And this fire was manageable before numb nuts decided to leave the front door open.
  2. You ever try and put out a fire inside a private dwelling with a 2.5? The line is fine, just need someone to operate it!
  3. FYI I have shown this link to firemen from other states and the response is disbelief. Why anyone would EVER share this is beyond me.
  4. Delete this video. Unless of course you want to get ripped apart. If so be prepared.
  5. I am glad this guy is on the job, I know countless others who have been awarded the same opportunity from this last test that would have otherwise been too old. What you fail to see is that all they want to do is appeal to the liberal retarded masses. Oh everyone wants that good feeling inside when they see that some social plan did something good for those of color. Yet, these same people roll up the windows and lock the doors the second they get off the Deegan to get on the FDR. But you just want to see the trees not the forest.
  6. KO Curtain. 2nd due roof man takes it to FP MD. I just wish some of you were able to see the forest through the trees. This story could have been told 600 times from the 2 proby classes before. This is just another story for the liberal agenda. I hope this guy is getting destroyed at work, rule number 1, never talk to the press. This guy took his hard work and effort and had it destroyed by the same news paper that supported the a****** that ruined his first attempt at the job.
  7. My information source is someone who was there. And its wrong. A major accident is our terminology. Any accident on a boat is usually a major accident. Nothing was severed. His arm was never detached. You reposting a bull$hit email serves no purpose.
  8. This isn't accurate and have no idea where this info came from.
  9. Because I know the answer already from anyone who was trained heavily and frequently I would like if only our volunteer members answer the following question. You have 4 lengths of 1.75 line with a combination (fog) nozzle on it. How many PSI would you provide at the pump panel. Please if you could provide an example of your math. Thanks
  10. Albany PD has been using rear facing blue lights for at least 20 years as well. Who cares, it adds to their safety.
  11. The rule of thumb for me is always 15-20 per length of 1.75 plus 50 for smooth and 90 for combination. 15 if its level, add 5 for a change in elevation. For 2.5 its only 5 per length and 50 and 90. I to this day can never figure out why anyone would say 100psi is enough when using 1.75 line, but I hear it all the time and its damn annoying!
  12. Firefighter deaths can be reduced by looking at what is going wrong. A few years ago they instituted at work stating duration of fire. It helps dramatically in making the decision on if you need to vacate the premises. These are things that need to be done universally though, a standard needs to be set for what needs to be done, and how long it should take to do it.
  13. I know how I would do it, especially if you have pre connected cross lay lines. Keep the simple tricks coming. You have no idea how many times I have had to call for more pressure, not once have I ever had to ask for a decrease, that is what the shut off is for.
  14. What should be taught to everyone regardless of experience is the need for something to be done. Not meaning do something if you are just standing there, but make sure everything that should be done is being completed. Adequate line like this story exposed. Adequate egress. Adequate manpower for relief. Adequate monitoring of members levels of exhaustion. I still to this day can not figure out some things that are different between fighting a fire at work and fighting one for free (volunteer). Always a difference even though the only thing you need is water. Ill ask a main pet peeve in another thread now that I think about it.
  15. Black N5A with green tetrahedrons and bourke lenses, stamped front piece holder with nomex (yellow) ear flaps. Size is Medium. 07/01/13 sticker date inside helmet. 500 bucks cash or trade for guns or guns plus cash on my end if you have something nice. All guns go through Annabi Risk consulting. Get it before I ebay it and someone else gets it.
  16. Best and worst thing to ever come to the firehouse was WiFi!
  17. Danbury is 15 minutes away, Westchester is at least 40 if not more. In Albany County they had a system where each dept if they had the desire could be a part of a specialized team. Luckily here our soil is not very sandy so its fairly stable. This was operator error, not a result of a true trench collapse. Realistically a cache of shoring should be kept somewhere other than at Home Depot in case $hits on. Basic building construction and knowing about loads and how to transfer them is not as common as it once was. New guys text and are on playstation all day and not out building a tree fort like they used to.
  18. I guarantee I have been to more fires than any of the other posters on this thread. But that isnt the point. How often do you respond to a job where 911 gets a report that someone was banging on the window for help. I will bet dollars to donuts a lawsuit will come of this. The men did a great job, they show up with what 8 guys to put out a fire and make a grab, the issue is the choice that was made. If I was there even without a mask I would be attempting entry. But I must be crazy or looking to become a LODD because I didn't check my nuts when I took the oath.
  19. Oh and lets not forget about the dead husband! We could not have possibly saved him he was definitely gone by then too. I have unfortunatly been present for LODD's. Doing a 360 would have done nothing to prevent them. You should perhaps read them yourself. But that is totally off topic. Nothing and I mean NOTHING will save a life more than an aggressive firefighter. A BS kitchen fire took one life and almost took another. If you think walking around the building was worth when you are the ONLY guy there you need to grow a set.
  20. The house is worth nothing, the person inside is all the value. If you can't pull up in front a private dwelling and tell me the basic layout you need to watch more HGTV.
  21. So if you lived there you would want your loved one to be waiting to be rescued while someone walked around the house? I guess having a brain dead loved one is the same as having one alive to all of you. Call me critical but life takes all priority.
  22. I know an employee, they take care of the men there.
  23. In radio and voice contact is still considered supervision. If you are not comfortable doing a search alone you should resign.
