Everybodygoes is correct.
It occurred while out of city limits, I think it was on Long Island for a LOD funeral, PC Kelly saw a radio car and for some reason wanted to know who it was. He only saw it from the rear, but could not ID what department it was from because most cars are white with the same blue letters on the trunk only saying "POLICE", he only saw it for a second. It was then decided to add "NYPD" to enhance ID of his cars.
but doesnt the plates on it front and back tell you what prcnt its from?

That rig spends more time in the shop than on the road. It does not really matter because it does not fit in there temp firehouse that they have been renting for 2 1/2 years. So in summary it has been OOS for 2 1/2 years The taxpayers are being ripped off.
what a shame i know the feeling.

3 square miles and 7 rigs in 5 buildings?
Surrounded by more of the same. No, Westchester wouldn't benefit from a regional approach to emergency services.
plus i87 and 287 tappan zee bridge, metro rail road, hudson river ,office parks hotels motels.and paid district of greenburgh.and the meny thousands of people that transit thru tarrytown.its a very busy hub of westchester cnty i would say,

that sad.tarrytown only gets 451.000 and the village gets district money from greenburgh so its almost a wash at the end its almost a free service to the people who live in tarrytown.and out of that comes all building and truck maintenance and all equipment for firefighting.and the village still says its to much?
and thats for 5 buildings 7 rigs and 2 boats 4 chiefs cars.in tarrytown.

The Dobbs Ferry Fire Department operates on a $427,200 budget. This makes up 2.5% of the Village of Dobbs Ferry's $17,134,261 budget. Of this $240,000 comes off the top for hydrant rentals to United Water. This brings our actual operating budget down to $187.200 or 1.1% of the villages annual budget. We do not receive any Fire District protection money as we are a completely municipaly funded department. We have to fight with our Village Board every year for even the most minimal of increases. It is really frustrating that the Board funds us at such a rediculous level.
This whopping amount covers protective gear, equipment, building maitenance, vehicle maintenance, maitenance contracts, training, uniforms, office expenses etc.

Sore subject with me brother, can I please vent a little to all of you??
We had our "popularity contest" (elections) last Monday night. I have been serving for the past three years; 2 as Captain and one as assist chief which I held proudly. This past year, our two captains finaly finished their FF1 training, one even took the FF2 as well (thats right folks we had 2 captains serving without basic training. They based their qualifications on being able to work all equipment and knowing the department...) This year for nominations one of the two Captains and another member were nominated over me for 1st assistant, I was nominated for nothing. The other current Captain was nom for 2nd asst. Both current Captains have no officers training and very little if any experience as interior firefighters. I was beat out by someone fresh out of FF1 with no experience all because I was making a push to change things, focus more on safety and upgrading equipment and the department obviously didnt like that so they voted me out.
That bothers me, and the more I make a stink about it the more they get in my face and tell me its done so live with it. Another more experienced member 35 years in the service made inquiries into their training records and they have next to nothing besides FF1 and 2 yet our SOP's require FF1 with 5 years in the department, EVOC, Haz-Mat Ops, FBAA/Principles, and at least 2-3 officers courses like NIMS 700, ICS 100, 200 etc etc. They have none of these.
Who can I contact that would get the best results to fix this issue? FASNY? OFPC (or do they even handle stuff like this) local government? State government?
It realy sucks too since we just moved into our first house, in this district so I cant move to another area with a better department...
Sorry for the rant, just realy bothers me to no end...this backwoods redneck volunteer we-dont-have-to-follow-the-rules BS thats going to kill someone if not changed....help.
sorry to here this.
