  1. It has been stated that he was going for weapons that where on the shelf a few feet from him that is why he was taken down, also Al qida has already confirmed that he is dead so why do we need pics, who cares the pos is dead thats good enough for me.
  2. Your comment is foolish, asinine, moronic, and not very thought out. To blame a Department for giving the black eye instead of the individual. That eye has been beaten by so many people over the history of the fire service it is never going away. Who ever blames the Department should look into there own closet and examine there skeletons before blaming the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department for this. I am sure you all have a few things that are in there that never made the news or bought to the attention of the police. Yes I am a member of Sleepy Hollow Fire Department. Trent if you meet him before this incident was very active here; you never expected this from him. But he has been accused of committing the most heinous crime a firefighter can commit do I feel hurt and betrayed. Yes I do. Do I stand by my Department of course I do and will always. I am proud of my Chiefs and Officers and fellow Firefighters who help keep Sleepy Hollow safe. Member of Sleepy Hollow Fire Department and Damn Proud of it!!!!
  3. Would make going to Ranger games much easier.
  4. Can you picture Granma or Granpa driving 85 mph, or better yet doing 40 in a 85.
  5. I have bit my tongue long enough. Want to know what has to be done, here it is. Instructors have to stop pushing students through classes, how many people have ever failed EMT class. Instructors have to weed students out before the practical exam, not let the Practical or the State exam weed people out. Passing grade in class should be 80% not 70% this way when it comes time for the State exam you are really ready for it. Think about it how many people who score a 70-75 on the State exam just got damn lucky on the test. I think the practical is a joke the way it is given here in Westchester. When I first took my EMT class in 1989 I paid for it. We had 32 people in class, do you know how many people actually failed the class…NONE, When I was in TOP for NYCEMS in 1991 we had 44 people in class, by time of our final we had 23 people in class. Then back in 2004 I took the EMT class again due to a lapse in training. 38 people in class and no one failed the class again. What is wrong with this picture? One of the big differences in TOP and pay for EMT courses are the way the protocols are taught. In pay for courses I was taught just the protocols that where going to be on test or the practical. In TOP we had to know every single protocol in the book. The worse statement I have ever heard from a instructor in pay for course was, “Don’t worry you don’t need to know that for the test”. I have been told by many people and I do not know for a fact myself, that instructors get paid or a bonus for how many students pass there class. If this is true or not I do not know. I hope instructors are not passing people just for the buck You want to fix BLS EMS here in Westchester start in the class room, cut the head off of the problem before it gets even worse..
  6. On the evenings of April 1 and 2, 2011, prominent buildings across North America and the world — including the Empire State Building in New York City and the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada — will turn their lights blue to raise awareness for autism and to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day on Saturday, April 2. We're aiming to light the world blue all throughout April — city by city, town by town — by taking action to raise autism awareness in our communities. Please check out the website and see how to Light it Up Blue http://www.lightitupblue.org/ Dont forget to support the 2ND ANNUAL HEELING AUTISM FUNDRAISER hosted by MoFire390's Family. 7. Think before you post. Seems like comon sense isnt very common.
  8. They are a good source also try your local High School, it is getting closer to gradution time and some High Schools you have to voluntee a certian amount of hours to graduate. give them a shot also.
  9. Try your local PTA's, ask to speak at one of theremeetings and try a recriitment drrive there
  10. I was unaware that there where no direct flights to LAS from LGA, so what you are saying Chris makes a lot on sense then why HPN does not have flights to LAS, thank you for input.
  11. With the runway at HPN being 6548 ft and the runway being 7000 ft at LGA is lenght really the problem, or is it combined with what is on the approach to HPN. I also heard that it's the fuel farm at HPN that it could not handle the fuel amount needed to add flights to LAS. But once again that is just hearsy.
  12. Southwest will be flying out of Westchester County Airport soon, once the takeover of AirTran is done.
  13. Yes the times are tough, States and City's and the Federal Gov't wants give backs. People are going 2-3 years without a raise. I can understand that there is no money there, but has anyone notice the prices in the Super Markets lately. How are we suppose to live if prices keep going up and no more money is added to our pay checks. What happens when it comes to the point where people cant afford to put gas in there cars to go to work. Public transportion is not excatly the best here in Westchester. Who ever would of guessed that a gallon of milk would be more then a gallon of gas, or a cup of coffee is half the price of a gallon of gas. Someone is getting richer and it sure the hell aint us.
  14. In the city if you work Catholic School, kiss your chances of becoming a public school teacher good bye, The city wont hire you. At one Catholic School in Staten Island starting salary is 17G.
  15. Let me explain how Non Union Teachers get treated, My wife is a Speical Ed Teacher, for a Speical Education Services company who teach Special Ed students in thier homes throughout Westchester and Putnum Counties. She gets no medical insurence, no paid sick or vaction leave, she has to carry Malpratice insurence, has not gotten a raise in four years, and had her salarey cut by 15% this year do to State Budget cuts. Now you may say why dont she work for a school district, she has tried and do to her "lack of classroom exprience" she has been turned down. Besides that fact she enjoys what she is doing as does the thousands of teachers who do the samething as my wife. As we say being a Police Officer or a Fire Fighter is a calling, many teachers consider teaching to also be a calling.
  16. Think it is fitting that the viewing will be held at the Capitol building and an honors burial at Arlington, including an escort platoon, a horse-drawn casket arrival, a band and a firing party. Deserving for the last of the doughboys, RIP Cpl. Buckles you are once again with your brothers.
  17. On Feb 15th two ICE agents where attcked. One was killed, they were assigned to the ICE Attaché office in Mexico City, they were shot in the line of duty while driving between Mexico City and Monterrey by unknown assailants. U.S. law enforcement agencies are working closely with Mexican authorities who are investigating the shooting to ensure the perpetrators of this unconscionable crime are captured as quickly as possible. A phoney militery check point was set up and they were ambushed. This happend about 100 miles from Mexcio City, SO basiclly this was an assanation. Funny how this never made the papers really. But Lindsey Lohan sniffs some coke and robs a necklace, and its posted all over the front page across the country, very sad state what is news in this country.
  18. Intersting article “I always ask people, ‘What was the last terror attack in the United States using an aircraft?’’’ Nelson added. “People say 9/11. No, it wasn’t; it was Joseph Stack in Austin taking his [plane], crashing into the IRS building and killing people. We don’t know what the next face of terrorism is.” http://www.emergencymgmt.com/safety/Face-Terror-US-Home-Grown.html?page=1
  19. Truly amazing photos in 3D of the sun http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,2048103,00.html
  20. Intersting stats as of July 2002, some are estimates, some seem real, and some we may question. All are very grim and disturbing, But intersting one is the one that states How Many Fire Fighters on Leave for Respitory Problems. "9/11 by the Numbers Death, destruction, charity, salvation, war, money, real estate, spouses, babies, and other September 11 statistics" http://nymag.com/new...ear/numbers.htm HFD according to stats of this article no active Armed Forces where killed.
  21. Forming another commission, guess they were not happy with the results of the last fist fight.
  22. "The epic snowstorm that hit the Northeast last week was matched with an epic effort from first responders, including a group of firefighters in Neptune, New Jersey, population about 5,100. The Hamilton Fire Company crew that worked the night after Christmas were all volunteers, said iReporter Bhak Tanta-Nanta, a firefighter who filmed a 67-hour shift that spanned three days." http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/01/man-chronicles-firefighters-67-hour-shift-digging-out-n-j-township/?hpt=C1
  23. Wow we all can say bad move or ,stupid thinking but God Forbid we say it's bad PR, all of a sudden FDNY gets dragged into it. If you cant take the heat dont do the stupid crap, and get over it. Many of us have had bad PR, you just have to suck it up, and take your lumps. If not I know where you can get a spare set of trucknutz.
  24. Heard thru grapvine that they are keeping the k9 units, does anyone know if thats true.
  25. Maybe saving a life, what if driver Z kills someone, with numorus complants about their driving, I think after killing someone the FD would be in some serious stuff from that action. What would you rather deal with. This is something that is going to happen sooner or later, if it hasnt happend somewhere already. I think we are all in agreement people will video and take pictures of everything now, it does not have to be a first responder every joe shmoo has a video phone now, there is alot of money to be made in pictures and videos that the news will pay for. The days of protecting the Dept just for the sake of it looking bad is gone. I think we should be handling problems as such from the get go. IMO too much is let go and buried under the carpet, handle it from the start and you dont have to worry whats posted online what pictures are going on and what videos are make rounds.
