  3. I believe they have been on Lafrance's since they introduced the new Cabs 7 or 8 years ago? however long ago.

Since talking about some sort of Lower body area lighting, Yorktown has some nice features of area lighting (Spotlights) underneath the back tailboards facing back similar to when they mount Spotlights under the Tralier Hitches of the Chiefs Trucks. Nice for backroads and general lighting purposes

  4. Understandable that yes there has been a large influx of Flags and Patriotic Graphics on rigs since 9-11 but I believe its Great. Being Proud of your Country (which we all are) is why we are the country we are and I think we should display are colors proudly. Now this doesn't mean that dept.'s who do not sport these aren't as patriotic as another, its all Preference. There is some overkill but whatever, thats up to the people putting it on there vehicles. I can be a continued reminder of what has happened in our nations past and that we will sport are colors proudly whenever possible, that we really will "Never Foreget". This could also be like the Magnetic Ribbons?

  7. Millwood firefighters sue in clash over election

    By ELIZABETH GANGA

    THE JOURNAL NEWS

    (Original publication: May 19, 2006)

MILLWOOD — The organization representing the volunteers in the Millwood Fire Department is suing the fire district's governing body to try to force approval of the volunteers' choice for second assistant fire chief.

On April 6, the firefighters elected Walter Quast as second assistant chief by better than 2-to-1 over the other candidate, Ray Lips, in this year's only contested election for line officers, said Richard Scanlan, the fire company's treasurer. But on April 24, the fire commissioners, which govern the district, rejected Quast's election. Three commissioners voted against Quast and two abstained.

The commissioners asked for a new nomination, and although the fire company nominated another person on a temporary basis, it challenged the commissioners' decision in state Supreme Court in White Plains on May 12.

Scanlan said this was the first time in his more than 30 years of volunteering with the department that a fire officer wasn't approved by the commissioners. Moreover, he said, the district's bylaws require approval by the fire officers unless the nominee doesn't meet certain qualifications.

Quast is a former chief and a dedicated volunteer familiar with the newest apparatus, Scanlan said.

"He'd get up at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning and lug hose," Scanlan said. The vast majority of the volunteers approved the lawsuit, he said.

Quast couldn't be reached for comment yesterday.

Anthony Olenik, chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners, said he couldn't comment because of the legal action. Commissioner Angelo Indusi, who abstained in the vote against Quast along with Commissioner Fred Scheier, also said he couldn't comment.

The lawsuit adds another layer of contention to the Millwood Fire Department, which is struggling with controversy over the district's proposal to build a new firehouse.

The fire district covers the western end of New Castle.

  8. Man...... get a life!!!  Are you in administration?  You should be!!  Some one call RESCUE.... some one above has a stick impaled!!!

Guys Take it Easy, I agree with enjoying ourselves and also enjoy "Jersey Style" Wetdowns. But....he also kinda has a point. I Love a GOOD Wetdown but entitled to an opioion.

  9. Wasn't able to take in this one, but was at the Rutherford Rescue wetdown a few years back and the Special Services unit wetdown aswell also at the same Office Complex. Was a perfect spot, but also have to keep in mind that permission to use the property is easier for them, I don't know about up here (Beverage Serving) a topic. But yes, very disappointed I couldn't make it.

  11. Issue is that I see is that the Public also doesn't understand why the photo's are taken. As a Scene photographer I am faced with even Law Enforcement Officers from Towns that in which I take photo's for the FD's give u a hard time and people look at u like your sick. One of the Reason's is Insurance adjustors and Fire Insurance people that run to the scene of an Incident and try to make money off of it. I saw this at one of my departments recent fires. If u are wearing Apparel that displays u are with an Emergency agency like a Turn-out Coat or Bunker pants I just wish people would use common sense and understand its for a purpose.
