  1. I would say station#2 in White Plains rates pretty high, it does not get any state of the art than that. It has 2 large bays in the front but in the back there are 4 bays so you can house extra equipment. Armonks is the best looking fire house in westchester, it must be the largest in the county. Lake Carmel and Garrison in Putnam County have state of the art fire stations. Mt Vernon, New Rochelle, and Yonkers have the more classic looking fire houses and thats just fine.
  2. [i saw in the paper this morning that James Arena had passed away. It is terrible to lose someone that young. I knew since last year that he was sick and I am at a total loss that it happened. I feel really sorry for the Arena family and I wish them the best of luck and hope they can get through this period, nothing can prepare you for things like this. James Arena fought a couragous battle with his illness and now he is at a better place now. May he rest in peace and I extend my fullest condolences to the whole Arena family. Losing a family member is very hard thing to overcome especially when its you only child that really hurts. It is going to be a very long time to get over a loss like this especially someone as popular as this young boy, losing a child is a terrible thing to go through and I hope nobody has to experience this type of pain again.
  3. I agree with you having a central dispatch is more reliable than having local pds tone out ems or fire. alot of times page outs by police are hard to understand because of static. When 60-control pages out they sound clear. 60-control uses a computer system to transmit the tones which is 100% more accurate then the technology that is used by police depts who dispatch volunteer fire depts. Many depts in westchester use 60-control as their primary dispatch and they like using them. Its all about making sure that the emergency personnel get to the scene quickly and safely.
  4. That engine time is up. I hope Sleepy Hollow is purchasing a nice pumper they should look at other manufactures othr than pierce
  5. They have two chief cars 2631, 2632 one is a jeep, the other is a ford explorer
  6. My department would be 5 engine companies 2 ladder companies 1 rescue, several support units 3 chiefs cars all tahoes white with red lettering. The rigs will be a mix of spartan kme hme and sutphen with code3 or federal lights and siren packages no leds or strobe light bars. the department will be all volunteer with dispatching done by police. The system will be three rounds depending on box location and will be tested daily at 12:00 noon and 6pm
  7. the tahoes and expeditions are fine when departments buy pickup trucks for chiefs cars I wonder what the heck are you doing buying that. They break up the tradition of having suvs as chief cars. My advice stick to what had before
