  1. I am researching the purchase of new EMS gear. Do any departments use the Globe Lifeline set and if so what are your thoughts/opinions on the gear? Thanks in advance.

Globe lifeline is being used by many EMS groups in Dutchess County, it offers a Nomex outer shell for a little more protection, it tends to be a little pricier than some other brands, but it has been very well received.

  2. I HAVE A BRAND NEW POLARIS COAT FOR SALE, WON IT IN A RAFFLE AND IT'S TOO SMALL, SIZE LARGE. COLD WEATHER JACKET FOR SNOWMOBILE OR ATV, RETAILS FOR $ 225.00, ANY INTEREST??, MAKE A REASONABLE OFFER.

  3. Ossinings 1976 Hahn Engine Replaced in 1999 by Seagrave Engine. It was Manual and sounded Great coming down the road, could always tell what was approaching N. High from Snowden First.

If i'm not mistaken, this rig is in Lake George Escape campground for Fire truck rides during the camping season.

  4. January 1,1996, Dutchess Cty, Dover Plains, Poly-Tech recycling facility. 175' x 400' x 3 stories, 2/3 of the building was crumb rubber & tire chips from recycling used tires, week long event through the "Blizzard" 0f 96 and sub-freezing temps, no hydrants, 16,000ft 5" ldh on the ground the first day, 6 or 7 aerial devices, too many to count engines and tankers, total of 41 departments mutual aid for the week, It was the largest mutaul aid fire in the history of Dutchess County. I know there are some/most Putnam County departments that will remember this one!!

  5. the Paterson T/L is that the old Mt.Kisco truck i may be wrong please let me know or did they get a new one

The old Mt. Kisco truck went to Dutchess County (Dover Plains), about 91' ??, it was just recently sold to a department in the Albany area, i will let you know who when i think of it. Dover Plains is waiting the arrival of a new E-One 75' quint to replace the Sutphen truck.

  6. As far as my knowledge goes, and I'm sure there are several people on here more knowledgable, one of the reasons why Smeal won the bid and ALF did not was due to the greater angle/grade ladder jacking specification which was unique to the city....ALF could not meet that spec and Smeal was one of the very few who could and bid.  As far as my hopes with the ladders, which I know won't happen but I can still hope.....an ALF Tiller!!

As far as the E-One/Saulsbury, there is no more Saulsbury. E-One ate them and destroyed them. In my opinion,  I know the Yonkers FD apparatus people will choose what works best for the city and will be looking far beyond the superficial brand......and will choose something that will serve the city well.  As far as my hopes, I'm hoping that will be a Pierce Arrow XT!!

Let's not unreasonably speculate and let's listen and discuss the accurate information presented!! :D

As far as the Smeals are concerned, it's my understanding that Smeal totally went back to the drawing board and designed a rig just for YFD, turning radius, overall height, one set of "A-frame" style jacks and one set of out/down jacks, not sure what other manufacturer would redesign an aerial device??.

The E-One/Saulsbury comments are funny to read with most not knowing what situation Saulsbury was in before being purchased, from what i've heard, they were not going to be around long anyway, so it sounds like E-one just prolonged the inevitable, it's not easy to do business in NYS, just look where most of the other major manufacturers are located.

it remains to be seen what type of product comes out of ocala with Saulsbury tags on them, first few i've seen look pretty good, and are still available with Spartan chassis.

  7. UNLESS THE QUINT IS THE ONLY RIG THE DEPT. HAS OR IS IN AN AREA WHERE HELP WILL BE GREATLY DELAYED A QUINT IS NEITHER A GOOD TRUCK OR ENGINE.  YOU LOOSE TOO MUCH COMPARTMENT SPACE ON THE TRUCK TO GET THE PUMP TO FIT.  SHOW ME A QUINT THAT CAN REPACK HOSE WITHOUT THE LADDER BEING PUT UP.  YOU ALSO PLACE THE CREW IN THE POSITION OF " ARE WE A TRUCK OR ENGINE ON THIS FIRE?" YOU CAN'T DO BOTH UNLESS THERE ARE 8 FIREFIGHTERS ON THE RIG AND NO ONE STAFFS LIKE THAT.  CALL ME OLD SCHOOL,  BUT WHEN I NEED A TRUCK I WANT A TRUCK WITH GROUND LADDERS, FORCED ENTRY TOOLS AND HOOKS... NOT A HALF ASSED HOSE BED.

YOU MAY BE RIGHT ABOUT THE COMPARTMENT SPACE , BUT E-ONE MAKES THE 95 REARMOUNT PLATFORM AND HP-75 AERIAL WITH PUMP AND WATER WITH A "SIDESTACKER" HOSE BED FOR ABOUT 1000' OF 4 OR 5" LDH. NO NEED TO MOVE THE AERIAL DEVICE FOR THE HOSE REPACKING.
