Question for OFD.... the picture with LT 42 bucket on the ground, and the nozzle on the bucket, can we get a closer look at that ? Is that a straight tip which can fog ??? ( not a ladder guy here, so I am clueless )
I don't have any close up pictures of the nozzle, but I zoomed in on one of the pics I took, and it looks like it is an AkronBrass 1577 SabreMaster 1250 Nozzle.

As of 1400 today the Ossining FD has placed a new 2010 KME Engine in service with Monitor Hose Co. #4 (E99). The following are some pictures of this, which took place inside Holla Hose Co. #5's Quarters.
And the new rig in our VERY Tight Quarters, as if the old rig wasn't tight enough. Not fun trying to back this into Quarters with no ramp and a small bay.
And some bonus pic's of the old and new rig's.

Not being involved with the planning or implementation of this event I would like to thank all who attended and helped, to hopefully, make this a successful fundraiser for the Kelly and Ruggiero children. When I was there between 1830-1930 the ballroom was packed.
Thank you Tarrytown FD, job well done.

Seth,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
This has been a great site for info and sharing, regarding our shared interests in the community of fire and ems.
I was not in on the "ground floor", but as soon as TR54 mentioned this site to me, I signed up on the third day.
Thank you also for asking me to be Communications Advisor for the site. I look forward to assisting you with the site, and anyone else who I can help with any area of my "expertise". My background for the position of Communications Advisor is really just having an interest in radios and communications. A majority of this knowledge was found on the internet. So, I am not really an "expert", but if I get a question that I do not know the answer to, I will go and research it to try and find an answer.
Again, Seth Thank You for providing a site for everyone to help and learn from everyone else.
Steve P.

Congratulations, keep up the good work.

The rumor I have heard is that there will be a combined "wetdown". Have not heard anything specific, but I will post when more info becomes available.

All the knockoff lights out there generally suck. The money you save buying the knockoffs will turn out to later be a waste when they stop working.
Stick with Whelen, Federal Signal, Code 3, Sound Off or Axixtech. You will only spend the money once.
If you want information on real (bright and reliable) lights, check out elightbars.org.
As FDNY 10-75 stated above, check out Elightbars.org for reviews and forums regarding lighting, installs and all sorts of vehicle accessories. From a review on this site I purchased my LED dashlight from Whacker Technologies. The reviews about this Company on Elightbars have always been exceptional. Their products come with a five year warranty, and the LED light I have can easily rival the Whelen products at a substantial savings.

Millwood FD has received FCC authorization for use of 45.82MHz with a license of WQMX940. I can confirm that this frequency will be used to retransmit Fire 17.

Sorry it took me so long to post this, but this is also on the FairviewFire.org website. From The Journal News legal section October 20, 2010 "...the Fairview Fire District, be authorized to withdraw the sum of $385,000.00 from the Capital Reserve Fund...to finance the purchase of one (1) rescue truck including equipment...". Also, on the FairviewFire.org website is the notice of bid for the Rescue with a bid opening of November 18, 2010.

According to Wikipedia, Brooklyn does have more people than Houston. According to the articles, in 2009, Houston had a population of 2,257,926, and Brooklyn had a population of 2,567,098, so, unless those sources are incorrect(after all it is Wikipedia), if Brooklyn were a city, it would be the 4th largest city in the U.S.
It looks like the Houston figure is incorrect, while the Brooklyn figure is correct. See Census.Gov - Brooklyn, NY and Census.Gov - Houston, TX

Great photos. Did they mention where the 4th one was? To be built after these three?
I believe I saw it being driven elsewhere at the plant while these three were inside.
Also, from the markings on the roofs it looks like these are Engines 1, 2, & 5 (or whatever designation they use at SMFD).

The Ossining Fire Department took delivery of a new KME Predator 1500GPM/500Gallon Tank Engine for Monitor Hose Co. #4, Engine 99 tonight at 1930 hours.
The Company received some preliminary training tonight from a KME representative from Ruscon. More training will be this weekend, and the Company is looking forward to putting the new Engine in service next Wednesday October 27, 2010.

You all didn't see Harverstraw's new TDA up there did you? Saw some pics and she looks great!
No, we did not, it was delivered to Ruscon prior to our final inspection at KME.

Will the new tower ladder be able to fit into ladder 42's current firehouse?
From my understanding, no it will not. The rumor that I heard is that the TL will be stationed at OFD HQ with R14 & L41 until the issue of a new Firehouse or addition to the current Snowden Avenue Firehouse is resolved.

You guys got a CHROME FITTING on the front bumper????!!!! OMG!!!! What a waste of money!!!! (Just an inside joke for our fan club from DC).
Yeah, yeah, hey I was only one vote on the committee.

Just want to post a few more pic's from the trip's to the KME plant before the L42 (TL) crew start posting their pic's (they are down in FL right now).
Unknown ladder truck without the stick.
TL stick delivered from the Roanoke, VA Ladder Plant.
A view of the pump you don't see everyday.
The hose bed without the flooring.
If only this were the "right" color this could be the latest addition to our fleet.

I saw this flyer at our FD HQ yesterday and found it tonight at TarrytownFD.org.

To the best of my knowledge the Pleasantvile FD's Fire Patrol Co. is a Patrol in name only. Check out Pleasantville FD's Apparatus page to view a picture and some info on Rescue 47 (Fire Patrol Co's apparatus). Prior to Westchester County adopting NFPA designations for apparatus, this Company's apparatus was designated as Patrol 7. As you can see in the above referenced link the current apparatus is more of a Rescue/Engine.
