  1. I thought that the dips were in part for drainage purposes, to funnel the water and stuff away, but regardless, those were some pretty huge dips in it.

BTW, didn't they just re-pave that structure within the past year or two?

Hopefully we will have pics coming soon. FFD941 was heading down there to try and get some pix last I talked with him.

Ha! used to be great to skateboard there!

    Sounds like some show.........

Millbrook woman killed in car wreck

MILLBROOK — A Millbrook woman was killed today when she lost control of her car on a snow-covered Route 82 and crashed into a delivery truck, authorities said.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said Linda Lauriti Williams, 38, was driving her 2002 Toyota northbound on Route 82 around 5 p.m. when she crossed the middle of the road and collided with a 2005 Nissan delivery truck driven by John Taracciano, 51, of Pawling, who was in the southbound lane.

Williams was taken by Alamo Ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Taracciano and a passenger were not injured. The accident closed the road for about four hours, authorities said.

State police pull rifle, lockbox from lake

Check back here for more on this story.

FISHKILL - State police pulled a sawed-off rifle and a lockbox from Dutchess Park Lake this afternoon.

After pulling it from the lake, police looked through the lockbox. They removed wet photos from the box. They also found a cordless house phone.

State police divers in dry suits were using chainsaws to cut through the ice on Dutchess Park Lake this morning. They have been at the site since early this morning.

State police at the scene refused to comment on the search or the weapon.

Earlier this morning, Sgt. Robert Hogan would only say they are looking for evidence based on leads developed in the course of the investigation.

Fishkill residents Mark S. Serrano, 29, and Charles W. Gilleo Jr., 31, were arrested by state police last week. They are charged with second-degree murder. Serrano reportedly lives near Dutchess Park Lake. The site also is not far from the site of the former Morey home at 203 Route 82.

The charges stem from the shooting deaths of 33-year-old Manuel Morey. Morey's wife, Tina, also died of gunshot wounds, according to police. The Moreys' 6-year-old son, Ryan, was bludgeoned to death, and their other two children, 13-year-old Antonio and 10-year-old Adam, were stabbed to death.

Serrano and Gilleo have been charged only with Manuel Morey's homicide during a robbery attempt. No charges have yet been lodged with respect to the deaths of the other members of the family.

The Moreys' home on Route 82 was set on fire in an apparent attempt to cover up the killings, and the ruins of the home have been razed. Manuel Morey's car was also set ablaze. It was found about a mile from the house.

Serrano and Gilleo are due in Fishkill Town Justice Court Thursday morning for a preliminary hearing on the charges. That court appearance could be canceled if the grand jury finishes its investigation today, but no announcements on any possible indictments in the case are expected before next week.

  6. Sounds good, except, don't you think that the likelyhood of a serious injury at a fire warrants an ALS unit be committed?

ALS is good to have on a scene.

I always added our ALS provider onto the alarm assignment for any fire I ran - with thoughts of the members on scene.

God forbid someone went into cardiac arrest on the fireground, I wanted the best chance of reviving them, and that meant a medic on standby at the scene.

  7. Apparently, 'Tis the season!

As I read the alert for the jumper from the Tap - I am amazed!

About 1300ish, I was stuck in traffic as swarms of NYSP and Ulster County agencies rushed to the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge for a jumper down. The body was apparently recovered quickly.

There was also an unfounded report of a female EDP on the Mid Hudson Bridge around 1600.....

The holidays are so stressful for so many.

  12. Cant think of any off hand right now but your best bet is probably going to one of the local train/toy shows. There is one coming up in Poughkeepsie at the Mid Hudson Center.  I can get you the date if you're interested. They have it every year. And of course there are always the shows at the Wesrchester County Center. They usually have one right around Christmas.

Thanks - I work for the City - so the one in Poughkeepsie I know about - it is November 12. I have never been, but can't wait - it is the day before my little guy's 4th birthday!
