Interesting....
The pull out shelving looks nice. At least there will be space more easily organized by the chief's aid. Why a pick-up? I know the Excursion is no longer available, by what about the Suburban? Anyone know the details of the why the choice was made?
They wanted diesel trucks, there aren't any more diesel SUVs available.

It's a done deal. The switchover will be somewhere near the end of the year.

A lot of Fire based EMS in FL run three personnel on the bus. I just heard the other day that at least one large FD is now switching to four doors to ride these members in forward facing seatbelted positions when ever responding to a call. I can't imagine a good reason why you'd increase the length of any apparatus in NYC unless you saw a significant need? I'm sorry, but make the family take a cab, don't buy a new 4 door cab! But I assume they have their reasons, it's not unheard of for the FDNY to actually research things and try something and can it later.
My guess for the 4 door set up is for the 'turnout gear' that is now mandatory to wear to some call types. There really isn't someplace to put it in the current buses.

All CVPIs are now FlexFuel

THe first two answers hit the nail on the head. I could care less if another emergecy vehicle had a blue light on it when it wasn't supposed to, discretion is one of the greatest things a police officer has. I can totally ignore certain laws if I wanted to. The blue light law is definitely one that I will be ignoring, at least in regards to other emergency vehicles.

It looks like a Street Appearance Package CVPI.I agree, I haven't seem CVPIs with the chrome strip on the back and cruise control.

That may actually be too much light, LOL.

Jesus Christ. Godspeed.

IMO, the days of fly car medics are over! Give that medic a bus and a partner.....guarentee they don't sit on scene anymore awaiting a vollie transport unit.AMEN!

Hearing horrible news like this saddens me greatly on an otherwise nice day. My condolences to the loved ones of those lost. I hope that if any of the emergency workers working the scene need PTSD counseling, they receive it instead of bottling it up like we do so much of the time.

Makes business sense to me.

The H2 uses the Chevy pickup platform and drive train with a different body on it. Its really nothing special except for the looks. The H2 uses the Tahoe frame and its V8, the H3, uses the Colorado/Canyon frame and its 5 cylinder engine.

My God, what the hell has happened to America? We're starting to live the late 80s-early 90s all over again. My prayers to my brothers in JCPD. I'm also hoping that all is well as I am about to start my tour again today.

The only thing thats missing is the lightbar, what is 'discreet' about this?

Well given all the crap that's been going on in albany right now.. This may not happen for awhile. This is the US Senate, not the State Senate....

Police Chief is a civil service position and in most places a tested one. Commissioner is a political appointment so there is no requirement for current police officer status.Letter from Sheriff on the subject
News story on the subject (possibly source of original quote)
The reason I asked is because if you read his bio on Albany PD's website, it sounds as if he was appointed to the position.

Similar issue facing the current City of Albany Police Chief.IS their 'chief' a civilian (Commissioner) position or is a UMOS position?

It must be a slow day....... WHO CARES! What do you want to know next.....what the air pressure is in the driver's side rear tire of an NYPD precinct radio car? If you don't have anything to say, then wait until there is something worthy of saying. Don't start a topic just for the sake of starting a topic. You were correct..... LAME!Uncalled for. If someone has a question, ANY question, they have the right to answer it. Since when have you become the judge of those worthy to start a thread?
-
-
Little confused here, the thread starter is pretty much asking someone to post an incident alert and you all are getting smarmy with him because he asked? Is this what is occurring or am I misreading this thread?

Ok, so nothing amazing, but my brother provided me with the following links with a few pics. He did say that if/when he sees one he will snap a couple pics:http://news10now.com/content/top_stories/1...rs/Default.aspx

10 of the new hires are off of a federal grant, the other 8 are to fill vacanies. One of the stipulations of the grant is that staffing levels must remain the same for the life of the grant, which is three years.
