  1. The test and processing for the DEP Police is exactly the same as NYPD. Not sure if this has changed but he should be able to cross file for the NYPD test at the same time and have the results count for both lists.
  2. There is a company that is already working on a diesel engine police car. www.carbonmotors.com
  3. FLYER.pdf10-13 Benefit For Sgt. Ed Klan NYC DEP POLICE April 27, 2008 Time: 2pm – 10 pm @ Fiddler’s Green Pub 1870 Route 6 Putnam Plaza Carmel, N.Y. 10512 $20 Donation at the door On February 2nd, former NYPD Officer now NYC DEP Police Sergeant Ed Klan suffered neck and shoulder injuries while responding to a residence for a report of shots fired. While responding to the call Sgt. Klan lost control of his vehicle on an icy road, causing it to roll over. Sgt. Klan the father of 2 children is now home awaiting further medical treatment and his money, sick time and vacation time have officially run out. Due to the fact that the City of New York or the NYC DEP does not provide Line of Duty injury protection for their DEP Police Officers. Sgt. Klan was forced to refinance his home in order to make ends meet. If you can not attend but want to help Ed. Donations can be sent to: WATERSHED PBA (c/o Ed Klan) 910 Croton Lake Road Yorktown N.Y.10598 I have attached a flyer to this post (at least i hope i did it right) can you please post it at you respective agencies
  4. The Departments ESU unit is a full time tactical team assigned to the water supply. I am not a member of the unit so I can only list the training/job skills I know they have, there may be more. They are there for any tactical situation that is outside the realm of what the patrol officer can handle. They are also trained to perform several types of rescues, confined space, high angle rope, ice as well as swift water rescue. They are also trained in HazMat tactical operations, if the spill is of a criminal nature they are to clear the area prior to FD entering the scene. One of the biggest problems is that they are just as spread out as our patrol division causing a huge response time issue. And Chris your right the numbers are misleading, we only have around 100 Officers for an area the size of Maryland. I know in my command I cover the five boroughs of NYC so that should give me 30,000 – 40,000 other Officers in the same area, but how many are assigned directly to the water supply? I know on average I turn out 2 maybe 3 officers per tour to patrol lower Westchester and the five boroughs. The number of Officers we turn out are the about same for the Command north of 287 which covers Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties.
  5. This has nothing to do with Fire Fighting, however my Police Department has started issuing Tactical Medical Packs to all its Officers. More or less it's an "OH $h**" pack in case an Officer goes down they have the equipment to provide self first aid. Just thinking it might be a great item for all members involved in public safety to have with them. I have no idea how to post a link. But here is the web site for the packs we have. http://www.tacticalmedicalpacks.com/index.html
  6. ONEEYE you do know as a Police Officer you can have a persons drivers license placed under review I believe the form is a "DS-7 (Request For Driver Review)". If you don't have any you can get them from DMV on the same forms you order UTTs and the MV104s from.
