  1. I came across this while looking through the KME website. KME Kovatch Organization will be having an open house with tours of their assembly plant on Saturday July 10, 2010 from 10A to 4P. It says they will have various apparatus on display. With the tour of the plant, if anyone does go, you may see one or more of the several area apparatus that are in production. This does look interesting.

I had the chance to attend this open house/tour about 3 or 4 years ago. This is a great event that allows you to see every part of production from the preplanning stages/drafting to the finished product. KME allows you to go through every building and see the inner workings of their plant. Usually at every building there is a rig being put together, whether it's engine mount, paint, or even the ladder or electronics. There is some demos on pumps and arial devices from what i remember. Usually, all who attend bring their respective apparatus and those too are on display. Plenty of ideas to borrow from other departments if you are thinking of getting a rig from KME.

Description Of Incident: Officer shot 3X to the abdomen and vest by an EDP. PO transported to Lincoln Hospital and EDP located DOA in an apartment. FPTF

    Reporters/Writer: Truck4

News reporting that the Officer shot is from West Harrison. Just wanted to say best wishes for a speedy recovery for this young Officer. Very scary incident that could have been much, much worse.

Bobby is a personal friend of mine and former member of the West Harrison Fire Dept. He was a proud and dedicated member before joining the NYPD. Knowing him, he can't wait to get back to work. Thanks for the thoughts and well wishes. Also, my best to those other officers with him, and to all Police officers, I thank you for what you do each day.

  3. I actually remember my instructors talking about this a little during my FAST class, sounded like a very interesting and useful device. Do any departments around Westchester with FASTeams have these in operation or have experimented with them?

In West Harrison, we have 3 of them. Two of them are used only at a real incidents. Of course, only one at the scene, and the second is a backup. The third is used for training. We have had the SORD now for about 2 years. It is a great tool to have. Ultimately, every situation is different and you may not always need it. As we have seen though, when you can use it, it's a great tool. Definitly helps the memebers get the person out with less hassel.

  4. Hmmm... Let's see, Yonkers calls themselves Marine 1. Now Ossining calls themselves Marine 1. Perhaps the thread on resource numbering is applicable here too. According to the DES listing Verplanck is Marine 1.

What is the response area for this boat?

    Chris,

I have noticed Yonkers Marine 1 in a marina in New Rochelle all summer. Is this because of budget cuts that it is not in the water??
