Description: Working fire in a 2-story brick OMD 0900hrs-New Windsor dispatched for the possible structure fire, caller reports smoke from a 2nd floor window. 2nd alarm on arrival (some companies were AMA upon dispatch). Companies made an aggressive interior attack, making quick work of the fire. Fire was placed under control by the 30 minute status check.   3. I'm on the fence with this one. As mentioned, reception for pagers and cell phones can be limited to say the least. There are times when I receive a fire call text late or not at all. So there have been instances where the house siren has alerted me that there is a call. I can remember while dispatching for a fire district, I failed to sound the house siren for whatever reason. I had a member key up the department Nextel to ask me why I hadnt set off the siren. When I asked him how he knew there was a call, he replied "because my pager went off" lol. I know many agencies have certain rules/guidelines regarding house siren use (type of alarm, time of day, etc). I can certainly agree with that. I for one don't see the need for 6, 7, 8 rounds of a house siren. Perhaps 3 would be suffice?
  4. Wow, that's pretty bad a$$! Skid steers are very versatile pieces of equipment to start with. But I've never seen them used in a law enforcement capacity before. Very interesting indeed.

Command advising main body of fire is knocked down, overhaul in progress, OC911 can discontinue the status checks. 1203hrs-36-109 (FI) on scene. - Middletown Car-2 advising that his Fire Police are on scene. 1207hrs-36-11 requesting the Town of Wallkill Building Inspector to the scene.

Date: 11/21/15 Time: 1647hrs Location: 234 Leslie Ave. c/s Parkway Dr. (off of Rt 32) District: Vails Gate Units: VGFD (Car-3 has Command), Washingtonville (FAST), NWPD, NWEMS Description: Working Fire in a 1-story SFD 1647hrs-Vails Gate alerted for a reprted structure fire, kitchen on fire. - Car-3 responding. Base-5 (NWPD) advising reports of a male occupant trapped. 1649hrs-NWPD on scene confirming a working fire. 1650hrs-VGFD Car-3 on location with a 1-story, ranch style single family dwelling with heavy smoke showing, requesting the FAST on the Box. 1651hrs-OC911 alerting Washingtonville; request for their FAST to the scene. Upon conducting his 360, Car-3 found fire showing on the #3 side and advised 1st due E478 to stretch an 1 3/4 line through the front door. E481 stood by a 2nd hydrant while T482 took the front of the structure. T484 and E479 assisted in opening up. Crews made quick work of the fire, holding it mostly to the room of origin. A male occupant was removed by a neighbor and NWPD prior to the FDs arrival. Occupant was flown to WMC in unknown condition. R480 & E479 arrived and performed a quick door pop to remove (1) patient while E478 responded to the Little Britain School to secure an LZ. LifeNet Air-2 was the Medevac which flew the patient to Westchester MC. A second Medevac was requested, but quickly cancelled as other patients were transported by ground.

Meier set for Tuesday CRAWFORD The funeral service for Crawford Town Police Sergeant Eric Meier will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at 11 a.m. Following the service at William M. Gagan Funeral Home in Pine Bush, interment will take place in New Prospect Cemetery. Meier, 51, died while on duty on September 17. In addition to his police service including as president of the Crawford PBA, he was a member of the Pine Bush School District Board of Education. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Schneider, two sons and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Re-Located to NWFD: Good-Will (Engine) Description: Working Fire in a P/D 2350hrs (approx)-New Windsor dispatched for the possible structure fire, fire in the basement. New Windsor then re-sounded for all available manpower for a working structure fire. Command then requested a FAST to the scene from Vails Gate and an Engine from Cornwall to stand by in New Windsor. Command then advising that Vails Gate would go to work upon arrival and requested Cornwall's Engine to the scene. 2nd alarm then transmitted bringing the City of Newburgh to the scene as the 2nd FAST and Good-Will to re-locate an Engine to NWFD. At the 10-minute status check, Command advised of a working fire in the basement of a private dwelling. At the 30-minute status check, Command advised that the bulk of the fire was k/d with crews opening up and (1) line still in operation.

E404 arrived and advised of a working structure fire, requesting Cornwall-on-Hudson to stand by in their quarters. Shortly thereafter, Cornwall Car-3(?) requested an Engine from Cornwall-on-Hudson and FAST from Vails Gate to the scene. Crews encountered heavy fire on the #1 floor which extended to the #2 floor. By the 20-minute status check, the bulk of the fire was k/d. By the 40-minute status check, the fire was k/d with overhaul in progress.
