  1. We have been using the Minitor Line and within the past year have been purchasing the Minitor V. Our take is that there is a vast improvement over the III & IV. Plus the Voice Playback in a handy function to have for double checking locations and type of call. The reception seems to be much better with these too. I would recommend the Minitor V. We use (Putnam) low band though. I cant vouch for the UHF Freq's.
  2. P.S. Glad to see your posts again Pal. How you feelin' ?
  3. Not sure about the Ground Transports, but we had them "Stop By" a few weeks back and they were wearing their Red JumpSuits. And if I might add, there are a couple of cuties in thoose siuts too..... When was this transition ?
  4. I am curious to see what you get for replies on this one. My department is the same way...... But, usually you'll find him in the Radio Room at the station. Safety from afar ?? Ours is appointed by the Chief and there are no Safety Officer SOG's as far as I am aware.
  5. Having been a Chief for 5 years, I can not even imagine ever making a statement like that. Yes it is always in the back of your mind, but hopefully it wont happen. If this story is accurate, then I think that he should reconsider his position as a leader and turn it in. After a job, if my guys come home in one piece with no injuries, that is a successful job. Proper training, and good gear goes a long way in prevention here. The article says "Borrowed Gear" I can only imagine what shape it was in and how it fit as well. Good luck to the guys in his department and hopefully he will sleep at night after one of his guys gets really burned.
  6. I was at the FDIC Conference / Convention in Indianapolis Indiana last week and saw it. Sweet Truck............ Definitely an attention getter at the show. And yes it is Blue and Gray. Interesting choice of colors. Was not paying a great amount of attention but it was definitely an American Lafrance 100 ' Mid-Mount Bucket with an onboard pump. Not sure if it had any water or hose, but it did have 2 Deck Guns mounted on the chasis . One near the turntable on one side plus one in the rear on the opposite side as well as a 3rd in the bucket. From what I saw it had lots of bells and whistles. Some sort of Video Monitor inside the bucket... maybe you can watch yourself on CNN at a big job, who knows. Looks like the Tarrytown residents are in for a tax increase...........
