  9. I spoke with a Captain from the New Canaan FD by phone and he said that Conn. residency was required as well as Conn. FF 1, with apparently no exception. The only thing I could think of, that I did not ask him, was if Nationally Certified FF 1 was acceptable. EMT is not required.

  18. The trailers, once deployed, will be a great asset to every department in the county. The recent Trailer Training Program classes were held at the county FTC, and from what I could tell nearly all the participants (at least in the sessions I attended) were from the Sound Shore. Both the trailers provided by NYS and Westchester Co. are actually quite amazing as far as equipment goes, but everyone needs to be trained and become familiar with the equipment ASAP. In house decon training alone will not be sufficient to use these trailers effectively. Setting up the decon corridor, and other trailer equipment, needs to be practiced and drills will have to span multiple jurisdictions. There is also a plan to establish detection teams to further augment the career depts. level A trailers as well as the volunteer and combo decon trailers.
