  1. Date: 1-24-04 Time: 20:00 hrs Location: Chatsworth Avenue in Village of Larchmont Frequency: 46.26 Units: E33, E902, R1, L19(TMFD) Description: Private Dwelling. Writer: DRD I am a Lt. in the Larchmont FD. We were dispatched to a reported working basement fire as per Larchmont Police. Currently our first due Engine (E34) and out truck (TL7) are OOS. E33 was acting as first due Engine. R1 acting as a squad. E902, a reserve engine on loan from the City of Yonkers was 2nd due. L19 from the Town of Mamaroneck was dispatched as first due truck. E33 reported smoke in the basement. Crews forced entry of the rear door and found a small fire in a cardboard box. Fire was extinguished with water cans. Forced ventilation of smoke. House was undergoing renovations. Cause of the fire was under investigation. This fire could have been A LOT worse. If it wasn't for the neighbors calling it in we would have gotten the call only after the fire has taken the house. All units 10-8 / 10-2 after operating for approx. 30 minutes.
  2. From what I heard it turned out to be a water leak in a science building on the reservation. I think I heard the leak was near an area possibly containing water reactive chemicals. HM 1 was on location, but i heard nothing further.
  3. I think it is a great way to exchange ideas on how to improve the fire service here in the county as well as keep up with recent incidents.
  4. Engine 63 - Port Chester Engine 169 - Hartsdale Squad 270 - Yorktown Ladder 16 - Eastchester Tower Ladder 57 - Bedford Hills Rescue 17 - Katonah Rescue 1 - Larchmont (utility) If could add more I would look towards Purchase...they have great stuff.
  5. We have the discussed the issue in the Larchmont Fire Department. In the Vilage of Larchmont housing for young people simply does not exist. The Chiefs and older members of the department were very receptive to the idea of a "member house", however, by the time anything actually gets done in the Village i'll be married with kids and have already moved out. How do departments expect to maintain a young and active membership if they can't make retention a priority?
  6. Nice pic of Rescue 1... My personal favorite.
  7. It wasn't anything major. I spoke to a friend who goes to Mercy and was on the fire floor. She called me after she evacuated the building, and from what she could see it was a one room fire in a chemistry lab.
  8. It is my understanding that www.vmfd.org, the Village of Mamaroneck FD website, hosts a live feed for Westchester County dispatch. However, there are system requirements and I have never actually used it. It's worth looking into if your really interested. There are numerous other website such as firehouse.com and thebravest.com that host live scanner feeds from New York City and around the country as well.
