  1. We got rid of that system do to complaints from members... We had the Scott pack integrated one. In theory it worked great BUT you only had your Scott pack waist strap keeping you in the system ( No leg straps or harness)... not very comfortable when going out a window and hanging, we had multiple members who couldn't even finish their required jumps due to the literal pain in the ribs it was giving them. That system used thin webbing which we have kept and moved to our gear pocket and that seems to work out great. One advantage to the webbing is how thin it is... you can really pack it in there with minimal bulk. We are now currently using the Gemtor Harness with the RIT system with the thin webbing in our right pocket.

Edit: Some pros of the Integrated system were easy maintenance, and the lower cost since we only had to purchase systems for each pack not member.

This is the system you are talking about... I heard another local department was looking at it... http://www.ritrescue...etail.php?id=10

Some cons about the scott system: as stated it only has a class 1 waist belt, the system self deployed at least twice during training and became entangled in the members legs, some members had difficulty breathing while hanging in the class 1 waist strap, and if you have to remove your air pack for any reason you lose your bailout system.

  3. I was impressed that it was Cook and not the Con Ed Vac, either way it was great... A question ? maybe someone knows... they were there pretty quick, were they working nearby ?? were they requested by local FD ? Local PD ? or were they notified that by their office with a trench collapse in their area, to break and go there in case.... would be nice to know how it happened...

Which ever the case, thank you Cook for showing up...

The town highway supervisor was on location at the command post and called cook directly for command. They had a truck in the area and sent it. NYSDOT also sent a vac truck from Peekskill and Con ED had one responding for down county.

I would like to thank all that assisted with this call, WCTRT, Cook, NYSDOT, Lifenet, NSVAC, Yorktown Fire, Somers Highway Dept., WEMS, Somers Schools Personnel, Batt. 13, Somers Dispatch, 60 Control Dispatch, NYSP, Somers Police, CON ED, and all the members of the SVFD. If i missed anyone i'm sorry. everyone did a great job thank you again.

  4. Really? If I were you, I'd be more appalled that I wasn't providing the very best service as efficiently as possible. I'd be less appalled that someone is working on improving the situation.

Are we talking about the same thing here. i think not. If everyone on here would do as much as needed to be done for there jurisdiction and spent less time worrying about everyone else's department there would be nothing to discuss. but everyone here knows whats best for everyone else. got to love this site.

  5. If Seth thinks he could get these kids to pack hose, clean or do anything else Lincoln Hall is hiring. Good luck. As for this kid he was attempting to escape and damaged the fire alarm system. If they all are not charged for it the rest won't learn. this is not the same Lincoln Hall Seth responded to when he was running EMS here and its not the same from 2007 as he is attempting to show with the annual report. Believe me i know.

    Just a guy likes this

  6. What do you mean "lost in the shuffle"?

60-Control, and many other large regional dispatch centers handle multiple major incidents and high volume without any adverse outcomes. If you think that they'll somehow lose your call, I'd be very surprised to learn of that ever happening (at least in recent history - to cling to isolated incidents from 10-20-30 years ago would be unfair).

i am refuring to a call i was at over the summer when an VAC requested 60 to page out for another crew to respond and were told their request was acnolaged but they were to busy. you know somerthing like that.
