  1. Anybody know anything about Sean Penn filming "Fair Game" in a Battle Hill house the other day?

They were also at the Westchester Medical Center.

Saw this posted on Imdb.com, but no details on www.onlocationvacations.com.

They were at WCMC Tuesday. The lobby of the Taylor Care Center was used in a scene. It was labeled as Cleveland Medical Center for the scene and decorated with 4th of July decorations. The movie also has Naomi Watts starring in it. I did not see the actors as filming was after I left for the day, i only saw the set and prep work going on.

  2. Lunch is on me.. :D

did someone say lunch!! just kidding

    Andy,

Joe and you both did a great job. The decision to call for the 3 squads was a great call. They are a invaluable resource.

Maybe someone can start a thread detailing the specialized equipment and capabilities the squads have, so all up and coming line officers will know more about them, and not hesitate to call them.

  3. 1st off my idea of a good job is

1 - when everyone got back to the firehouse safe and sound.

2 - any time the fire is contained to the room of origin or building if it was fully involved upon arrival.

3 - EVERY time a rescue is made!!

No fire is good!!!!!!!! Property is lost, people may be hurt, and lives are disrupted. Same thing as saying "good MVA" or a "good cardiac arrest."

This point of view is extremely strange; however, almost everyone says it. Fire and EMS are strange entities. We flourish on other's misfortunes. Not because we wish harm on others, but because that is why we train and why we exist.

Saying "good job" is slang. However, if you really think people having fires and getting hurt is literally "good" you are literally crazy

victor, talking about "a good one" like you refer to is not what everyone is posting about. thats a subject for another topic some other day.

  4. I think the days of a real "WET"down are behind us all. I invited e-86 to come, since they let us take it for a spin while deciding on an ALF. They are bringing e-86 with them. this worries me. But I feel it's all good as long as no one gets hurt.

  6. Let me clear this up a bit. first off the med center does have their own staff trained to set up and run the decon. When we trained it was side by side with nurses, stat flight's crew, maintenance and a few administrators. the problem is we don't know who will be working the day of an incident. so we are assuming we will be doing most of the setting up. IF WE ARE NOT INVOLVED AT THE SCENE OF THE INCIDENT! as roeems points out.

as far as time - it takes about 20-25 minutes to set up. the water for showers is heated by the propane tanks that you can see in the pictures.

let's all hope we never find out how well this system will work.

  7. The WMC is in the Valhalla FD's district, therefore we have the responsibility of setting up and assisting with the decon. We have trained on the setup and use a few times. There was a order to the way items were stored, so that we would be able to setup in a timely fashion. Now i will have to see if thats still the case.

by the way the setup will work, but westchester county deserves a better, permanent facility.
