  1. Gentlemen, thank you for your interest in Playland EMS. Unfortunately, I will not be able to hire you for the following reasons:

EFD184--Bedside manner leaves something to be desired (not everyone is on drugs!)

KBR359-- we will NEVER find a uniform to fit you

Demps121--the check reports only take 30 minutes and we dont wear hoods

Capt2102--we dont need a fire training center janitor

Fud27- Playland is alcohol free--no whine- and besides we wont make you lieutenant here either

Good luck in your future endeavors

    Antoher good shot from wiggs!

  2. I think the Police officers who read this site should read what was posted on ABCnew.go.com about a threat to the members. The person who wrote should be locked up just for saying it!

I FEEL VERY SAD FOR THE BELL FAMILY AND MY HEART GOSE OUT TO THEM. I DONT FEEL THAT THE OFFICERS SHOULD HAVE HAD A RIGHT TO MAKE THE DECISON ON NOT HAVING A JURY THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD ONE AND WE WOULD HAVE HAD A GUILTY VERDICT. THOSE OFFICERS ARE GANGSTER'S. THE NYPD ARE THE BIGGEST GANGEST IN NYC. THEY THINK THAT THEY HAVE A LICENSE TO KILL WHEN THEY DONT. AND THEN WHEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN THEY GET A SLAP ON THE HAND. WHY IS THAT? I WILL NEVER EVER FORGIVE OR FORGET WHAT THE NYPD DID TO THIS YOUNG MAN AND HIS FRIENDS. THEY SURPOSE TO PROTECT AND SERVE WHERE IS THAT AT CAUSE IT'S SURE NOT IN NYC. AND THEN FOR THE MAN MICHAEL PALLADINO YOUR COMMENT TODAY SHOWS THAT YOU NEED TO BE FRIED BECAUSE YOU DONT NO WHAT TO SAY OUT YOUR MOUTH AND I THINK SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN TO YOU. BUT ANOTHER THING I JUST DONT SEE HOW 1 MAN CAN EMPTY OUT 1 CLIP AND RELOAD AGAIN AND THEN THERE WAS NO GUN FOUND. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THAT ? HOW IN THE HELL THE JUDGE LET THESE MEN GO? DID HE FORGET THERE WAS NO GUN AND SEAN IS DEAD? WHAT THE #### IS WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM? I HATE THE POLICE AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM WHEN ONE OF THEM GET KILLED THA'S GOOD FOR THEY #### BECAUSE THE WAY THE BELL FAMIY IS FEELING THATS THE WAY THE FAMILY'S OF A POLICE OFFICER SHOULD FEEL WHEN ONE OF THEM GET SHOT DEAD. YOU NO WHAT THIS IS ALL JUST A JOKE WITH THE NYPD BECAUSE NOW THAT THE VERDICT IS IN THEY NEED TO BE VEST DOWN ALL THE TIME CAUSE ONE OF THEM WILL BE DEAD EVERYDAY FOR 50 DAYS THAT SEAN BELL WAS SHOT. 3. Westchester uses the CPAT at the end of probie school. You are required to pass in order to keep your job. It is a state run test and is not that difficult if you are in half decent shape. Like stated above practicing on some stairs is a good idea.

The county now uses the test just to get hired and then again at the end of school.

    As for tips?

Get a weight vest today and get your *** to a gym with a stair master or find a parking garage at least 4 stories and start walking up the stairs!

  4. Did you read the very first post in the thread?? Here, allow me to post it for you again to clarify for you EXACTLY who made it a "Career Vs. Vollunteer" thing. Next time, do some homework before you make accusations and keep the discussions clean and professional.

My point is, with mutual aid, What difference does it make who responds? Everyone in NYS receives the same training in Firefighter I, the only difference is one guy gets paid and one doesnt, so who cares how many "Volunteers Vs. Career Staffing" were on scene? I spoke to one of our members through PM and he was very nice and explained his point of view, and I understand where he is coming from now and I appreciate him taking the time to explain it to me, Professionally. What is happening here in this thread is very UN-Professional in my opinion. I have noticed that when Legitimate Questions have been asked, and a person cant answer those questions they immediately use the excuse "Dont turn this into a 'Paid Vs. Volly' thing". If you cant answer a question, be a man and say you dont know the answer, dont try and make the rest of us look like fools.

The original topic clearly stated that the person wanted to know how many career firefighters were on scene as opposed to volunteer firefighters...if you have an issue than take it up with the original poster.

    Thanks all.

My original post did ask the Career staffing of Pelham and was clearly answered. As for the why i asked the Career to Vol ratio was to get an idea of why there were SO many mutual aid rigs at the scene from Career departments. Was there and issue with the Vol response? is this a ongoing issue like most Vol departments are having with response during the day? Are they short on members? If it is why are there only 3 men working? I dont think that was in any way bashing the Vols just more about a concern for the Career staff in that area. Does my PRO CAREER views offend anyone? If so to bad get over it! As for the "Everyone receives the same training in firefighter 1 the only difference is one guy gets paid" this is far from true! We as professionals to receive FF1 but also way more then that 1 class to be Career ff's and we also do a good amount of in house training during our tour. Actually the probie class right now i think is at 17 weeks of class.

  5. High Official?????

    OH MY GOD!

90% of you would not last 20 seconds at the kitchen table at the firehouse in the morning!

Nothing is sacred, except a few things that have a time limit. After that it's fair game.

That's the life we lead. Wouldn't have it any other way.

i personally enjoy it the B.S. in the morning!

  6. I also heard from a very relable source that on one of Mamaroneck's rigs were an off duty New Rochelle ff and 2 FDNY ff's. So you never know who is on a volly rig, do you.

First question Village or Town rig? If its the town Im going to put myself out there and say thats false. I would have to hear it from the source who claims they saw it and the guys he claims were there. As union members its frowned upon for a member to be a vol. in a department with career personnel. My big questions is why did you bring it up?

  7. Not to knock you but this does happen in the paid departments. This comment is coming from a fellow career member. What happens on St. Patricks Day in the city. Are you not in uniform representing your fire department? Unfortunately this happens in both sides of the F.D. There are repercussions in the vol side of it too like getting kicked out to even being arrested. So don't go firing out comments before you do your research.

The guys on st patty day arent driving around in rigs! Messing with gear that someones life is counting on! Unless you know and have seen?

  8. Not in a career department? Your kiding right? Lets just look at NYC. The Animal House in the Bronx. Drinking, sex. OK lets look at Staten Island, the FF who got hit over the head with a kitchen chair. Drinking was a problem in both cases. Don't say drinking in the fire house on duty doesn't happen. Thats the same as a high school administrator who says there are no drugs in their school. Get your head out of the sand (bet everyone was thinging I'd say something else) Career of Volunteer doens't matter. Its there but at least the career guys keep it in the hjouse not out in the street where John Q Public can see.

Listen that **** doesnt happen were i work! John Q public doesnt see it because it doesnt happen. A couple guys in the FDNY(out of 11,000) have issues but dont go and tell me to get my head out of the sand. By the way the members from the FDNY lost their jobs because of things.More and more you hear of some dumbass volly setting a fire, crashing his car drunk responding and scamming the funds i can go on and on. Drinking DID happen and it was a problem but it doesnt now. We can lose our jobs, pensions and possible our lives. The vols get to go to the next parade and the next big fire with no actions against them. Great to be the taxpayer in that area huh. But your probably one of the guys who thinks that when the volly dept cant get out a rig its no big deal just keep recruiting guys who dont show up!

  9. I know this may get erased and some of you are going to pull the volly vs. career crap but honestly this kind of stuff does not happen in a career departments. We would most likely be fired. There are no real repercussions for this stupidity in volly departments and there should be. Could these morons be kicked out? Would the tax payer like to see this? These are just my feelings if you dont like it oh well!
