From what I have seen, few other manufactures are offering sliding doors. While it seems like a good idea, I understand there are some problems with the sliding track in the cold weather, as it can get clogged with ice and snow.

i know some new braun ambulances have the sliding entrance side door, does this have it?Yes, the side door does slide. I think that is standard with all of Braun's buses. I had the opportunity to be inside the new 79 the other day. Overall, I thought it was very small. Not a lot of cabinet space or much room in back.

Fire police comes up a lot here. What exactly is that?

My agency currently has high visibility vests, but they look real sloppy and we are looking to replace them. Can anyone recommend a specific brand?

Who did the graphics and who built it?

Does anyone have any advice for studying for the NREMT-B exam? How is it different from the NY exam?

I feel kind of stupid asking this, but what will these be used for?

I'm surprised, I would have thought there is more.

Busy or NotIts nice having a third ambulance
when needed
Only 3 buses cover all of White Plains?

Then why not require your drivers to become EMT's?They did join a V AMBULANCE C.......Maybe at a minimum they should know what to do on an EMS call.
I have thought of suggesting that, but many of our drivers do not have the time to commit to an EMT course. If we enforced this policy, we would lose many or most of our drivers.

The problem with the staffed ambulance is that 1 ambulance will not be enough to cover an entire zone. This would be a problem with a fly car too but the fly car would be used to supplement the VACs not replace their response.

I like the idea of a BLS fly car. In my VAC, we have more drivers than EMTs and if a call gets paged out a second time (which is infrequent), it is usually at the request of a driver waiting for an EMT. A fly car would only need to be staffed by 1 person, whereas an ambulance must be staffed by a minimum of two but ideally 3 or 4. It would be much easier to find 1 person to commit to a multi hour shift vs 4 people. Likewise, the agency where the call originated would only need 1 or 2 members to respond. For most any call, my VAC has at least one member who has responds, even if the call goes to mutual aid.

If i'm reading your post correctly, its most likely because EMS calls don't require the manpower you'd need for a MVA or fire call. Having 40 or 50 people show up for an EMS call would be a waste of manpower and time. If you have 5-6 people to assist at an EMS scene normally thats all you need.5 or 6 people? 3 or 4 is more than enough.

I agree that sales seem to get earlier and earlier every year, but we should keep in mind that school could start in mid-august for some college students and they may already be getting ready.

I don't know if I would pull over for that thing. I would think its a joke.

RMA = Refuse Medical Attention

I am curious to hear of other EMTs' strategies for convincing a patient who wants to RMA that they need to see a doctor.

The new EMS Crew Room is coming soon!Sounds exciting. What will be in the EMS crew room?

For those of us not in the fire service, could someone please explain what exactly LOSAP is?

Are there any agencies in Westchester that will hire an EMT for about 1.5 months in the winter?

Surprised they didn't go with LED lights. Seems like all new emergency vehicles are using LEDs these days.

Funny you mention Amex...some of the NR stations won't take it cause they charge a higher fee then the other CC companies. Wouldn't be surprised if it goes back to Cash=Price A and CC=Price B (which was like twenty cents more or something) like it used to be.All of the major credit card companies prohibit merchants from charging a fee for using a credit card vs cash.

That's crazy. I know I don't carry around enough cash to fill up my tank and then have money leftover.

I love my 2 tube no name brand scope. For $8, its a bargain and it works great. Stethoscopes are are really easy to lose so I didn't see the sense in paying a lot of money for one.

Interesting that they chose to write Transcare on the front instead of EMS or Paramedic. I realize that EMS means little to the public anyway but I would think it is more recognized than Transcare.
