  1. The changeover is supposed to happen on 3/11. They are alledgedly changing to the Z-100 style of songs(yayy, more teenie bopper/rap crap!! <_< ). I was a loyal listener of K-rock for many many years, but how many times can you listen to stairway to heaven, back in black or (lord help me) Nirvana. They really need to play the other tracks on some of these CD's. Dont change the format, change the songs!!!!!!

  2. Your comment about the " trained camera equipped fire chasers" being slanted towards the media just shows how little you know about the people you were referring to. Anyone that knows myself or BFD2553 knows that we would put down our cameras in a second to help a brother firefighter at a scene, weather it be changing a bottle, helping to pull hose or even giving some oxygen.

Ummm, your right, I dont know you or BFD. And I never stated that you or BFD would never help out a brother in need of assistance, where that came from, I have no idea.... I was stating my personal opinion of the reply that was made regarding BFD's post.

As far as the second article... Why does a reporter feel the need to or have to trespass on school property to collect dirt? You tell me. Last I can recall is that reporter is reponsible for telling the reader about the story. I mean lets say there was a homocide that took place, should he be allowed to enter the morgue and do his own autopsy, with a doctor with him? Thats a little far fetched but it can be applied to the soil issue. I never said there wasnt a potential cover-up. I was merely pointing out that there have been other riffs in the Bergen/Passaic area involving that newspaper.

And Chris192, I think you misread my "just doing his job"... I was shooting for sarcasm on that one. There were posts that I interpereted as the photographer "doing her job". If you read the last line Im clearly for the reporter getting arrested for trespassing, and for the photog getting arrested for crossing the yellow line, and disobeying a police officer.

And again, Lets see where this one goes within the legal system.

  3. Living right next to the great City of Paterson, I can tell you that it is not uncommon to tape off that much area. They are an active department and most of their fires go to 3+ alarms. Alot of people, apparatus etc....It is also not the best area to walk around in...

Thanks LED I should have known that but in a stupor with pain meds from a recent surgery. I'd like to know if there was a problem withthis photographer and other Police Officers in the past? I'm not accusing the Police of anything so please my brothers in LEO don't take it that way.

I honestly do not know if the PPD & the Herald have bad blood between them... Heres another reporter "just doing his job". I might add that this reporter is from the same parent company as the arrested photographer.

BERGEN RECORD REPORTER ARRESTED FOR SOIL-SAMPLING

Police arrested Bergen Record reporter Michael Gartland June 2, 2007, as he was seeking to obtain a soil sample from a Paramus, NJ, school which had been closed when its grounds were found to be contaminated with pesticides.

Reporters must often defend their rights to gather news with a notebook, tape recorder, or camera — but on the environmental beat a test tube may be just as important a tool, and one whose importance is less well established in law. The company that publishes the Record, North Jersey Media Group Inc., went to court to recover soil samples that had been confiscated in the incident. Paramus officials agreed to return the samples June 12.

Gartland was arrested along with a worker for an environmental testing firm and charged with trespassing after they went to the public middle school to collect soil for an independent analysis.

Gartland had broken the story about the tainted soil — which was found five months ago — and school officials' failure to notify parents until May 23.

Officials closed the school May 29 after authorities found aldrin, dieldrin, and chlordane in mounds of soil on its grounds. The mounds were removed by the state Department of Environmental Protection on May 30. But other soil outside the school was still contaminated. Tests have not shown any contamination inside the building.

Paramus School District Superintendent Janice Dime said May 31 that she had known of the soil contamination in January, but that the district wasn't legally required to remove it. She later defended not telling parents of the problem.

Then on June 4, Paramus police threatened to arrest Gartland again, as he tried to cover a closed meeting of the school board in a public building.

After days of parents calling for Dime's firing, and Dime's refusal to resign, the school board finally put Dime on "extended leave pending further notice." On June 11, the school board fired the company that had failed to remove the tainted soil.

Misdemeanor trespassing charges are still pending against Gartland, the testing company worker, and a Record photographer who accompanied them.

Reading through the replies it does seem that a few "trained, camera equipped" fire-chasers are slightly slanted towards the media. As JCESU and others stated the facts are clear. The yellow line was drawn, she chose to disobey a lawful order. Therefore she should have the cuffs slapped on her, even if its blocks from the fire scene. Facts are facts, lines are lines, and laws are laws. Theres no other way to look at it.

OK, time to move along to other pastures and wait and see how this plays out.

I love how if a reporter gets arrested they are innocent before proven guilty, but other people(ie: firefighters, police, etc.) the media potrays them as guilty before proved innocent. I bet we all know what the defense will be......"It's my 1st Amendment right to take those photos..." I absolutely agree with the 1st Amendment, however...Do it behind the yellow tape!!!

  5. Holy Crap!!!! I thought I was going crazy regarding True Blue!!!! All of my buddies had no clue what I was talking about. Its nice to see that there are other enthusaists about these shows. Anybody have them? BTW, It was also a blast watching the "code red" clip.... Now heres a real mind bender, does anyone remember the Matchbox "Code Red" edition?

  6. Sweet! Do they fit in Crown Vics?

Id love to use the system they have out now, not sure of the name, has a deep bass sound and mimics the siren for a few seconds, makes you shake when you stand in front of it. Anyone have video on that?

Its called The Rumbler made by Federal Signal. I have one of these in my patrol car. It is kinda cool, but people still have no clue how to move over!!!

    Clicky Linky -

PS, this is not my car though

  7. Back in 2001 when we received our Engine I sent them photos of it. I actually spoke with someone and they told me that there needs to be other vehicles that use the same chassis and body style, hence all of the Pierce, Seagraves, etc to make it worth thier time. As far as the paint job they werent too concerned. We have a huge eagle design airbrushed on both sides of our engine which was delivered right after Sept. 11th... Still not interested. I guess its because it doesnt have FDNY, or BFD on it.

  8. Not sure how far your willing to travel, but I know in Bergen County, NJ we have a lot. Fort Lee has 3, Teaneck has a 3, Paramus, Englewood, Ridgewood have 1 each, and Wood-Ridge has 2. I know based on calls Fort Lee and Teaneck do a ton of runs in them. Fort Lee is especially busy and they have many hills in their area, so they have to have good horsepower.

  9. I'd love to see it. If there is one thing that wont happen up in Bergen County is having the FD's being told that they only have the option to purchase what the State offers. Everyone wants their toys and have their own opinions on them. It also opens the State up to some issues like, who will be manufacturer? Its not like buying a police car where you have Ford, Chevy or Dodge. There are a lot of good manufacturers out there. I mean for a town that has had nothing but problems with a Pierce to be told that you have to buy a Pierce because thats what we want is obsurd. But, NJ is good for some pretty screwy things.....................

  10. Maybe you missed something in my previous posts, so ill AGAIN highlight it.  As x635 already pointed out, they are a bunch of arrogant, ego feeding whackers. If they need an ambulance or not is not my concern.

The problem i have is their very PUBLIC and very IGNORANT categorization of EMS as a "shuttle" bus service.

I really don't see how anyone, especially those who parecipate on emergency scenes,  could defend that.

I rarely chime in on topics posted here, but let me climb aboard the bandwagon here...this is my feeling and there is no need to rebutt.......

66Alpha1, We have seen(many times) that you are upset about people calling EMS a "shuttle bus" or "taxi service". You even went on as to ask about the constitution, but what happened to the rights of others opinions? So what if they call it that. Judging by the info that has been spread here as well as EMS statitics is does seem that PG does a majority of (PC term) NON-Emergency TRANSPORTS aka shuttles. The article did not bash EMS, it never went anywhere near that topic. It was mainly pointing out the BS that exists between a career Dept. head and the lowly and yes, insanley large Egos of the 33. That being said, should they have a bus there, Not if it hampers their primary function. OK, done, theres my .02.

PS. Doe anyone know what happened with the Departmental charges brought against 33 last year? The incident at the fire scene where they "allegedly" turned off air bottles and wrestled with other FF's?
