Nobody wants to "ban fun" . To think that, borders on rediculous. Just keep the damn silly sting in the carnival grounds and off the parade route. I don't know about the chemical makeup of the stuff, but if it damages the finish on apparatus, or the uniform clothing at todays prices, that's a problem.

The way we operate, whoever the highest ranking officer is the IC, if no chiefs or other officers are there, the the most snior member is IC pending arrival of chief or other officer. If none show up, Senior most member remains IC for the duration,

Here's how we do it: 2071 = Chief 2072 = 1st Assistant Chief 2073 = 2nd Assistant Chief 2074 = Captain Co #1 2075 = Captain Co #2 2076 = Captain Co #3 The lieutenants use Portable numbers: Portable #1 = Co #1 Lieutenant Portable #2 = Co #2 Lieutenant Portable #3 = Co #3 1st Lieutenant Portable #4 = Co #3 2nd Lieutenant

Just to reiterate that, didn't some guy try to , or actually steal a ladder truck from a fire scene in Lower Westchester not too long ago??? All the more reaon to keep a driver with the apparatus. Especially in this day and age, when terrorists want to steal emergency vehicles!!!
