I hear tale that Brewster's new KME engine is in, anyone have pictures of it? There are some on Brewster's website of it in design, but none of the finished product as of yesterday when I checked. Anything special about this engine to tell? It says scene/fast engine on the site, does that mean this will be the FAST rig or will 11-5-1 (the tower) still be used?

Am I mistaken or was there a county Battallion Chief there? Why, if any reason exists, did he not assume command? (I'm merely asking for the sake of knowledge, we don't have county cars in CT, I'd like to know why the Btn. went if he didn't take command)

Lock 'em in Leavenworth for four years then dishonorably discharge him. What a disgrace... you volunteered to follow the orders of the President and Department of Defense. Hopefully the men he was supposed to command get a worthy officer to replace this guy. I hope our troops don't think that the majority of their leaders follow such a belief, because that could destroy morale.

Seeing as he isn't the prosecutor it would be fine. The DA would prosecute... He's just the issuing officer. The ticket would more likely than not go to the state, not his department. As long as all the proper paperwork is done it should be OK.

Yeah, that just seems like they are closing a small factory in effort to make themselves more profitable... I wouldn't see any reason for Cairns to go out of business anytime soon, not with MSA running them.

Any updates on the process? I haven't heard anything lately.

Wow, Stewart seems alittle far North to be a PA gig or to be a "4th Metropolitan airport"... anyone else agree?

Manhattan, im 99.9% positive. Most non-special units with a number that low are Manhattan companies.

Question, not to hijack your thread, but what exactly do Haz-Tac ambulances do? I can't find much information on it.

I remember an article on Firehouse.com about FDNY starting a new rescue-medic program where the medics/EMTs actually assist in the rescues, allowing them to treat sooner. Don't have much information on it though.

The fire service doesn't need a standard, we need common sense. If you are being called mutual aid to the scene, you should have a full crew with 2+ interior firefighters AND an operator. If you are going to water source, that may be negotiable. Also depends on what type of apparatus you're being called for. Aerials and rescues require more crew than an engine, tanker, or brush.

I think more than a few people will fail just because some of the answer sheets went vertically and some went horizontally... tricky DCAS...

I notice 2 bays in the station, any special reason for this? Will the airport rig (currently E26) or the Prime Mover/Decon Trailer be moved out there or is it being kept as a spare bay?

Back on the topic of response time in the Milltown Road area, I can see the Chief's point. At the last structure fire I remember on Milltown in Brewster's district a First Lieutenant from New Fairfield got there approximately the same time as the first-due engine did, so their response time in that area is a bit lacking. Sure, New Fairfield, King Street, Mill Plain, and DFD E25 are in the area, but insurance doesn't go down for mutual aid unless its automatic. The firehouse can definitely be justfied in my opinion. I only wish more of us could get land donated by the insurance industry...

Ball Pond (New Fairfield, CT) was called to standby in quarters. Danbury, CT was also called for volunteer tankers and possibly an engine or two. I don't quite understand the Putnam Valley call myself, but oh well.
