In Nova Scotia a lot of volunteers carry their gear in the trunk. A lot of them leave it at the fire halls as they have to go there to respond to the call.
It is getting recommended to leave it in the fire halls to air out after a call due to the fact it takes about 72 hours to off gas the HCN fumes.
The only ones allowed to put lights on their POV's are the Chief and Deputy Chief and it puts up your Insurance premiums.
That is a ruling from the Provincial Registry of Motor Vehicles.

HAHAHAHA Uhhh what??
It is partly true as I have seen firefighters up here in Canada who are book smart in testing but are no good on the fire ground.

There is a press release on Spartan's web site re: The take over of Classic Fire, LLC of Ocala Florida. Are they or were they not owned by E-One. They were also the Mid West dealer for E-One.

Hey Joe what's the specs on the Buchanan Rescue? It's an interesting rig. Is it a Spartan?

I have seen a Ward demo on an International chassis at the NY show.... From what they have said, no relation to WLF (I guess orginally there was supposed to be) but then decided to just brand as a Ward... Their site is http://www.ward-fire.com
There is info on another site taht said that the demo is a rebadged Fort Garry unit.

Some googling tells me that a Tower-ladder has a structural boom and an non-structural ladder on the boom (optional), while a ladder-tower has a structural ladder with a bucket/platform at the end.

VES.. good one!
Figures the photos go up of the rig and bang; there's your second alarm for Arlington yesterday...
Also, not to get obsessively technical, but with the lettering removed in the photo it's a good time to point out that this rig is not a Tower Ladder.....it's a Ladder Tower...I know, I know nobody wants to hear it, what's the difference, but there is a difference, and the vast majority of platform aerial devices out there are indeed Ladder Towers, even though most depts refer to them as TLs.......I guess it just rolls of the tongue easier saying it that way. Best Luck with the rig AFD. Anybody know if Joe T. is still in the shop for AFD?
What is the difference between a Laddet-Tower & a Tower-Ladder??

I see where Fire Guard INC. has switched alligience from Crimson to Alexis.
Is it true then that they are reducing their dealer territories.
Is this one also being run by the factory.

Arkansas-Illinois-Indiana-Kentucky-Missouri
I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to Towers Fire Apparatus in Illinois as they were the Crimson dealer for the above territory and are no longer listed on the Crimson site.

I wouldn't object to the test being more about firefighting because that would give people with experience and/or the motivation to study, an edge. However, the test still isn't discriminating as is.
The only thing that I don't get is what makes the Judge an expert on Firefighting. Does the Fire Department tell the Justice System how to run the court system.

The Meteghan River boatbuilding company A. F. Theriault & Son Ltd. has been awarded a contract to build a 79-foot, aluminum high-performance fireboat for the Massachusetts Port Authority. This vessel will replace the existing Marine One fireboat at Logan International Airport. The expected delivery date for this new boat is in June 2011.
This write up was in the Yarmouth, Nova Scotia Vanguard on Page 20 today & attached is a link to the shipyard in Meteghan.
Tis is the same shipyard that built the new boat for the city of Portland Maine.

Does anyone know if this is a new plant or the old RD Murray or Saulsbury plant.
-
Also wasn't Spartan/Crimson looking at the plant as well.

This aerial has been purchased by the Telford Volunteer Fire Company in Montgomery/Bucks County PA. It is currently being outfitted for delivery by Pierce. Expected delivery is April 2009.
I am reading this quote in that the delivery is coming up in 2009 or the post is meant to say 2010

There is a rumor on another site that AIP (now that they own 4 of the bigger ambulance builders) wants to part with E-One and concentrate on ambulances.
Ron have you heard anything in your Florida travels.

Hey Reliance, I'll make you a bet; which team winds up with a better record in the AL East, I get the Yanks and you get the socks.
Loser has to take the Scotia Prince or whatever the ferry's name is now from Yarmouth to Portland or the other way, meet the winner and buy him drinks and dinner.
~See you in Portland brother?
There is no ferry unless you can swim.

If you read all the reports. The first vehicle flipped and burnt was put their intentionally by the owner to start the riots. It was a bunch of people who do this everywhere including the Olympics last year.
