News 12 is horrible, looks like a high school production. I switched to FIOS internet and phone over a year ago and TV in November. It is great, I am glad to be done with cable.

A vehicle is great, but you need the properly trained and equipped personal to be functional.

Are these repeaters always on? Can I monitor 46.26 24/7 with a UHF radio through one of these?
Thanks
Mike

The NYS DOT plows on Central Ave in Hartsdale come from the Eastview Depot. Eastview would be either the one on Dana Road or Grasslands Road, many people refer to that general area as Eastview.

I will be buying another can and mixing cup!

Anybody familiar with 2 cycle engines here? What is the difference between 50:1 and 40:1 fuel mixes? Can I mix between the two? Most of my lawn tool are 40:1 but I just got a snow blower that is 50:1. Should I have 2 different gas cans?
Thanks
Mike

How about just purchasing a dozen tyvex suits. They will afford you the best protection. If you are going to dress up in coveralls, you should do it right.

Is there any news on the fire at Hartsdale Station 2? Was it caused by the constuction company? How bad is the damage? Will the contractors insurance company pay for the damage?
-
so let me get this straight you guys were able to get a program with funding and the possibility of the county purchasing a heavy rescue with out knowing how many members you need, how you are going to retain them, how many will be able to be certefied by a specific date and how many will be able to respond at any given time????? You guys can negotiate my next contractSo its basically a bunch of guys calling themselves a Tech rescue Team, with no trumembers, no true training, yet funding. Sounds like a major duplication of service as well as a way to spend tax money.

Could the NFPA start an inpections or auditing division similiar to how the NYS DOH performs inspections and QA?QI at a regional level?
It could even be a for profit service. In the recreation world amusment parks and pool facilities contract with private companies that provide suprise audits that include watching lifeguards on duty, testing thr guards and inspecting the facility, equipment , certifications, etc.

What frequency do primarly use?
-
Lower frequncies are very touchy with antenna lengths. If you trim the antenna to the appropriate length it should help. On mobile radios you see a huge difference.

You are absolutly right. It is sad, however the youth was tresspassing and conducting a crime. Anybody with common sence knows not to be near train tracks. It is a frivilous lawsuit that the tax payer is paying for in the courts, and im sure the LIRR will settle for a nominal fee to make it go away.

Looks like a nice rig. Any pic of the interior patient compartment? Must be tough to back into driveways and hospital bays.
Speaking of large ambulances, Harrison has a large chasis unit any input on that one? How does it handle, manuver, is their a lot more room in the back?
-
White Plains Hospital always has their HEAR radio on and appear to be appreciative of notifications. 99% of the time they know who you are, what you have, and what bed you are going to when you walk through the door, as long as they are not overflowing.
BTW: With the new 60 Control radios being installed in all ambulances, will the hospitals have radios to communicate with units in the field wether it be medical control, or notifications?

The person in the photo was also wearing a different color turnout coat. I t is quite possible that he was from an other agency or somebody just buffing the call.

Movie: "A Christmas Story". I can watch that over and over.

I believe that on the EMS side of things Volunteers and Career EMTs/Medics are geeting burnt out mostly because of the routine "taxi" transport. I believe that the E911 system is being abused by both the public and MDs who just say call 911 because a patient of theirs does not feel well. We will not be able to retain volunteers comming out when people keep on abusing the system.

Greenburgh has it on the road 24/7.

Mt. Vernon should address the reason why cops are leaving rather than penalize other municipalities for taking them. Guys are transfering because they are looking for a better job. If Mt. Vernon fixes there internal problems, then mabe guys will stay.
Also if you are interested in becoming a police officer take every test you can, for practice at the very least.

Cell Phones may be the reason, especially when somebody calls from municipalities with multiple post offices.
