  1. Great pics. Very interesting.
  2. This picture used to be up at the Westchester county training center(don't know if it still is) in color I think.
  3. Don't you think that the 1st due chauffer has enough to do if he/she rolls up to a worker? Unless its a joke that I dont get.
  4. Yes it is shes still going strong!
  5. I have to agree with this post. I don't think Seth's post was meant to offend anyone(unlike some of the other posts by some "veterans" on this site) but to encourage people to think before they post. Maybe if these veterans want respect they should give a little respect as well to the younger crowd. Today I saw a post on this site that said "For a little kid your are real annoying" I have NEVER seen a younger member write something as immature and disrespectful as that on this site. So just maybe this thread should be titled to EVERYONE on the site and not just the youth.
  6. Looks good. Good luck with it.
  7. WOW is that off the top of your head??
  8. Absolutely, I know exactly what you mean that is overkill to it's finest. There is no need to have all that radio talk. I think it should just be the first chief to sign on and the apparatus that is responding. If no chief is responding then it should be E123, 2347 responding. All other officers should just call the rigs they are in or drive to the scene. I hear dept up in the north of the county call in b/c I believe all the line officers have there own radios/portables in there POV and every time I hear them get toned out like 7 officers sign on along with the apparatus.
  9. I see what your saying but since we are on the trunk system we don't always know if a chief calls in or not so sometimes the line officer on the first rig will call in responding with the rig if he doesn't hear a chief on the air.
  10. Hawthorne has 3 E156- pumper E155- rescue pumper TL12- Tower Ladder All can be viewed at Hawthorne FD
  11. I see your point and definitely agree that to many people like to talk and hear themselves on the radio but in my dept only the 3 chiefs have radios. The rest are just identifiers basically for the officers to talk to each other on the fire ground frequency.
  12. No the only people who have cars are the chiefs and the rest ride the rigs.
  13. Yes exactly. In my department the last number designates the rank of the officer.(as in many others I know of) For example: #1-3 are Chiefs and Assistants #4 is the Captain #5-8 are the Lieutenants
  14. Upon arrival I would prob fill out the assignment like ALS said, hit the closest hydrant and hook up my block party pack with a 21/2 going into 2 13/4 lines. Call for ConEd to shut off the utilities and send my first 13/4 line down the ally but have my men or women stand at a safe distance in front of the transformers. While my first line is attacking the fire have my second line protecting the exposures and keeping an eye on the transformers. I would also send crews inside both structures to see what is going on inside the two buildings. Just my 2 cents.
  15. I think that is exactly what should be done in Westchester in my district we have a few places that would probably go out of business because of all the false alarms we go to.
  16. I 2nd that! Thanks guys!
  17. Well in my dept we have 3 chief cars when one gets replaced it usually is the oldest one that goes and if it is an assistants car that gets replaced and the chief gets the new car while the other cars get bumped down . My guess is that in many depts chiefs also use there cars for there personal affairs therefor giving them a lot more wear and tear then some of the apparatus. It also maybe these 25 year old rigs are doing perfectly fine and don't need to be replaced yet. In my dept our TL is 23 years old and is in great condition and is not even being discussed for replacement, besides the routine maintenance we have not had to take it OOS for a few years now. (knock on wood)
  18. Thanks bvfd. If MPPD has there own then why would they call in the FD for theirs?
  19. I know it may be a stupid question but what does TIC mean?
  20. Same here! D&D's has the best coffee!
  21. I was heard the were looking for a motorcyclist who possibly crashed and was ejected into the woods. I believe the first officer on scene found a motorcycle under a guardrail with no driver.
  22. Can't wait to see it when is all done! Good luck with it and if you guys need any help you know how to reach me.
  23. Very well said Raz!
  24. The game should have been over in the bottom of the 11th when Young hit that ball up the middle into center field and Navarro was thrown out at the plate. If you watched the replay he was safe at home. The Throw was there in time but the tag was late. But in any event it was a very good game.
