  1. It is, in fact, a crosssover based on the Ford Taurus. Base drivetrain is FWD, with AWD optional. The police package will be pursuit rated, unlike the current generation.

While I am slightly bothered by seeing the Explorer becoming a crossover, this is what the market wants. I have no doubt that Ford will be successful with this one.

The waiting list to get one is long, 3 to 6 months is what I was told. All being delivered now have been acocunted for, so unless somebody backs out after the delivery to the dealer, you are going to have to wait. Early indications are it is a hit and will be a hot seller.

  2. OK, here is what will happen, and should happen, if they want to save $4000 measley dollars, everytime an outside agency has to bring in a K9, charge them, they will reach that $4000 real quick. What is that saying about pennies and pounds and being foolish? It kills me how politicians find such measley expenses to cut but then the big ones, sometime the easiest to cut or eliminate, never get looked at.

  3. For the Chevy Caprice PPV, orders may begin to be placed in January 2011. http://www.chevroletcapriceppv.com/?seo=goo_|_2010_Police_|_Fleet_Caprice_PPV_|_New_Launch_|_chevy_caprice#home

The new Ford seems interesting. As for the front wheel drive, only time will tell. The current Impalas are front wheel drive, and the ones in the city (NYPD) always seem to be making some type of noise or pull. Anything will be better than the Ford Fusion Hybrids they have been giving out lately(just way to small)

The Chevys do not hold up well at all. The County had them, no more. The Ford's are much more durable.
