  1. Condolences for the family and friends. Rest in Peace Brother.
  2. The 'little boys' comment was un-needed IMO, but I'm sure he wasn't the first to say it or even think it. Catholic or not, I believe the priest or pastor or whoever he is, needs to re-think what he's saying and get his priorities in check. Banning those who help from using their parking lot doesn't seem like the christian thing to do. However I would like to hear more facts as to why he made his decision. Some people don't have religion in their life, that doesn't make them a bad person. I'm not 'Roman Catholic' I don't agree with alot that the catholic church says, which is why I'm a Christian. But, that's a whole other topic. StaySafe guys.
  3. Yessir, yet another probationary firefighter looking to be a hero. On a side note...Maybe I'm mistaken...(or don't remember w/e it is) I thought these types of threads were not longer allowed/kosher? Oh well, should be a good conversation thread.

  5. Maybe someone can answer this, I'm still a tad confused on this whole Trunk'd System. What about it is so much better than the older VHF/UHF system? I know there's different channels for TX/RX, but is that really a big difference? Couldn't that be accomplished with different sets VHF/UHF frequencies? Hope this isn't too off topic, if so my aplogies. All the other related topics where closed.
  6. Been down to the site a couple times in the last few days, (while stopping at Dains to get Lumber) haven't seen anyone standing guard.
  7. On the update: Some pretty good footage of the collapse and seconds after. I believe this video is from the security cameras at Dain's Lumber http://gannett.a.mms.mavenapps.net/mms/rt/...bject=829026431
  8. I don't think it should be 'national firefighters day.' Many other men and women died that day doing their jobs. IMO I think it should be just a national holiday.
  9. Posted this in the other thread, might as well post it in this one too.

  12. Nice pics Seth! I tell ya, I love the picture of the Dallas FD training tower. Always cool to see what other places use for training.

  15. As do I brother. I'm just a tad confused as to why they would release findings like that, if they're so 'insignificant' or whatever else Entergy decides to call it.

  17. Earlier reports said the well that these tests were done in weren't wells for drinking water, so why use those stats? Seems like they're trying to downplay it as much as possible. Which is understandable IMO - but if it's really not that big of a deal why report it to begin with? I mean, some 'leaks' are bound to happen aren't they?
  18. Happy Birthday Seth!!!
  19. Oh she's purrrrtyyy. Wouldn't mind one of those.
  20. Did a search and saw that this was posted, but didn't see the youtube videos. Anyway, just thought I'd re-post this with a couple questions since the other threads are locked. Once the mayday was called why wasn't all other radio traffic diverted to another frequency? Watching the video you hear numerous times where everyone was stepping on each other, sounded like all hell was breaking loose. Not criticizing the actions by anyone, just curious as to why everyone continued to stay on the same frequency. Does Houston FD have any Fireground type frequencies available to them?
  21. As is mine. Maybe Houston has different SOPs?
  22. As a matter of fact, I'd love it if you did. I would find that rather delightful, because that's vandalism. However, we're not talking shaving cream, and eggs in this thread. Unless I missed it, I thought we were talking about silly string? If you have kids throwing eggs at you and your rigs then there's an issue. If the kids are spraying it in jest that's one thing, but entirely different if they're doing it to cause damage. If the kids are spraying it around and it happens to get on you, oh well. Kids will be kids. But a little silly string never hurt anyone, Maybe I'm naive, but I've been able to get silly string out of a lot of my clothes. I've done my fair share of spraying silly string in the past. I'm sure it could be washed out of your real nice ems pants. With all due respect, I think this silly string i.ssue is being taken entirely too seriously. I'm sure the kids spraying it around aren't thinking 'wow look at these idiots walking down the street, i have no respect for them, lets be disrespectful and spray them or OMG look at the shiny truck!! lets mess up the finish!!!! soocool' Has anyone ever sprayed champagne in the air to celebrate? Same concept in my opinion. They're doing it to have fun, not to ruin your rig and pants.
  23. LED Bar, and halogen warning stick in the rear? Odd IMO but nice looking truck nonetheless.
  24. Nicely said. Parades are about having fun, let the kids have a little fun. Big deal if it gets on your pants or rig, wash it off and move on with life. Everybody is so up-tight these days, lets face it if it wasn't for the community there really wouldn't be a use for parades. The new generation parades: No silly string, no clapping/cheering, no kids, no fun. Smile at your own risk.
