  1. Nice rig, can't say I care for those mirrors. Good Luck with it.
  2. I understand what Seth is saying, and I agree with the concept because I've seen sometimes where topics have gone wacky. I may have jumped the gun replying, but it's all my opinion. I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, but to see where I'm coming from. I have a lot of respect for the members here, nothing disrespectful was intended in my original post, just my opinion being voiced. Oh well. With that being said, I'm not going to continue this on any further since it's pointless.
  3. Thanks, I have a better understanding of how it works now. One thing I didn't see was any type of fail safe though. What happens if the computer that's running everything stops working? Does everything revert back to the VHF/UHF? Or is there anything that would keep it operational without the computer?
  4. I'm not specifically talking about this thread, but in general life. But good point thanks. That was my point with the BNN thread, but everyone failed to see that.
  5. I'm sorry but you don't know me so don't assume anything (you know the saying about assuming). I'm not whining, crying or whatever other term you wish to use. Nor am I a child. I'm voicing my opinion which you have obviously missed or failed to read properly in your haste to talk down to those which disagree. Kudos to you and your junior members for being more EMTBravo Gods, who we all know all and are obviously the best. /Sarcasm. I've done my share of training and my share of 'proby status' and now I'm going to give my opinion when I feel a blatant mis justice is being carried out. I'm disappointed at this forum immensely. Thanks for your kind words Sir
  6. In my original post I highlighted certain phrases in red, those phrases where the reasons for my comments. I understand his intent, however I don't agree with it. Seth stated that there are 'complaints' because of the younger members voicing their opinions/thoughts/knowledge etc. I found it very disrespectful the way it was worded, seemed to say that because you're 'young' that you're a moron who knows nothing and isn't an asset to a topic. As I've said before, I might not know everything, but if I have an opinion or and idea on what is going on I should be able to post without the 'complaints' of other members. Granted I may be taking this a little personal, but lately things have been said/done on this forum to make it very uncomfortable for anyone to post an opinion when it's different from another's. This wasn't directed at the community, it was directed at anyone who isn't a seasoned veteran. My opinion/thoughts aren't less valuable than anyone else's because I'm 'younger/less experienced' These forums should be used to learn from each other, not just from the 'gods' who run it.
  7. That 'banter' is my opinion, which is obviously not welcome here. Nevertheless, I will continue to post my opinion regardless of who likes it or not. Thanks.
  8. In other words, just because you're not a 'vet of 20 years' your ideas aren't important. As for the 'speaking out of place', I was unaware that members had to ask permission to post their thoughts. I myself was under the impression that this was a community forum, where both the young and seasoned professionals could communicate without being told nicely to 'shut up and listen'. I'm not knocking anyone, I enjoy reading the older guy's posts, but to limit younger members such as myself from communicating their thoughts is idiotic. I don't claim to know everything nor do I post as if I did, but everyone has to start somewhere. Way to make the young/probies feel welcome.

  10. Quick question - I see that BFD uses Croton FAST for 1st alarm assignments, but back a couple months ago at the fire at W.I.C. Peekskill FAST was utilized. Is there sections of Buchanan that use Croton vs Peekskill or vice versa?
  11. Didn't hear any FAST requests when I was writing the IA. Just RIT.

  13. Not exactly what I meant. In terms of window/air conditioner design is there anything that could be done to prevent this? Metal window frames? Different brackets, etc.
  14. LoHud Report Dangerous situation - just wondering what can be done to avoid this in the future.
  15. I laminated mine - it says somewhere on the letter that they recommend laminating it.
  16. One was caught in Peekskill yesterday. http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008806160378 http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008806170375

  18. Damn, you guys are fast - I came on here to post the SAME exact question. Did some quick looking on MoheganFire.com and saw that U-40 is now Rescue 32. Confused me for a little while there, thought I was hearing things.
  19. And now the wait (for me at least) begins. I didn't think the written was all that hard - I picked up an EMT review book and did all those, it seemed to help. Now, 4-6weeks I'll know what I got
  20. I'm with you on the 'nervous' part for the practical. I passed mine yesterday, just waiting for the state written on thursday(WCC not Laguardia CC) . Only thing i can say in regards to the practical is know your ABC's and try to control your nerves. My nerves got the best of me and I almost forgot critical things. Good luck.
  21. I agree with both. I'd like to see that money go towards a new firehouse or new equipment I get the fact that it's a historic building, but it has no real meaning for me (and I'm sure a lot of the younger guys agree). Sure, it would be nice to save it if it was do-able for a REASONABLE amount of money, but spending millions on a shell...doesn't make much sense to me.
  22. I have to add my $.02 in here... Gas prices suck, I've accepted it and moved on. Times change things get expensive sure its annoying but I see no use complaining about it because its not going to change anything (except my bloodpressure). Gas prices would have to be ALOT more than $4-5/gal for me to stop responding to calls. Maybe it's just me...but I think there's more important things in life than gas prices.
  23. Some more info here: http://lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID...EWS02/804280409 One part that caught my attention was this...
