  1. Wow, what a sad state of affairs. Ladder 15 has been in service as a front line unit since February 5, 2011, without the rig having a operating aerial ladder?? What didn't the Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners reach out to, say the Yonkers Fire Department to ask about having them (YFD) loan out one of their Spare "Working" Aerial Ladder Trucks, until such time that Eastchester was able to facilitate repairs on your Spare Ladder Truck (15). If I was a taxpaying resident within the Township of Eastchester (Eastchester, Tuckahoe, and Bronxville) I would be out-raged and would have gone in front of the Town Council and demand answers.
  2. Totally agree with some of the comments made. If EFD is running Ladder 15 (Spare) that does not have a functioning Aerial Ladder, why not ask YONKERS FD to see if they would be willing to lend out one of their Spare Ladder Trucks (Ladder 78 or 79) to help them out until say TL16 is back in service? (Yonkers is right next door to Eastchester [Geographically) and they YFD helped out New Rochelle and Mount Vernon in the past Just curious if anyone within EFD reached out to Yonkers?
  3. Just went to a 5th Alarm
  4. Chief Dunn - Given the reported toxic nature surrounding the cause of this fire, were these roof operation photos taken well after the main body of fire was knocked down? (assuming that all members assigned to roof duty while battling the fire had "donned" their SCBA's)
  5. Barry - Could not have said it any better. Sounds like the continued EMTBravo.net Broken Record being played over and over and over. All the wonderful technology that Emergency Service Manufacturers are putting out on the market will assist but until State, County and Local Politicians, along with Union Leaders and Department Chiefs all get on the same page and get this Countywide Consolidation Plan moving (no more Paid. Combo or Volley Departments, just 1 "Consolidated" PAID County Run Department [No Exceptions made even for the Big Cities in the County - Every single City, Town and Village - All Together), taxes will continue to go up and lives and property will continue to be placed in grave danger. No Hype, just the plain truth.
  6. That Old Eastchester FD Mack Rescue 5 was a "CLASSIC" and the Old Brockway "BEAST" was a true monster (as I have commented before, you DEFINATELY knew it was going out on a run, when you heard it going up towards Eastchester along Midland Avenue in Bronxville, coming out of the Bronxville Fire House - That Air Horn was ear shatering)
  7. The Old Texaco Toy Trucks that used to be issued every Christmas are now considered to be really great collectibles, since they are no longer produced annually.
  8. Here's a photo from the 1975 Hess Toy Truck Collection (Much Better than those of today)
  9. News12 reported during the annoucement of Battalion Chief Kielb being appointed as the New Yonkers Fire Department Commissioner, that Chief Fitzpatrick was also "Hoping to be chosen as the New Yonkers Fire Commssioner" Not being selected as the New Commissioner, I guess Chief Fitzpatrick could not see himself now having to report to someone (New Fire Commissioner who was a Battalion Chief) to whom had reported to directly to him in past (when Chief Fitzpatrick was Chief of Operions), thus deciding now to also retire. News12 reported when they covered the annoucement of the New Commissioner, that a major part of the decission made was due to that "In-Coming New YFD Commissioner Kielb had a reputation of being fair and approachable" and that might have been a major part of In-Coming Mayor Spano's reasoning on deciding on Battalion Chief Kielb as being the best choice for the job.
  10. Yonkers mayor-elect names new fire commissioner (12/14/11) YONKERS - For the first time in 10 years, the Yonkers fire department will have a new leader. Mayor-elect Mike Spano has named George Kielb as the city's new fire commissioner. Keilb is Spano's second official appointment since winning the mayor's race. Keilb, a 32-year veteran of the department, began his career in 1979. In 1999, he'd was named the acting deputy commissioner after a series of awards and a heroic rescue of a fellow firefighter. Chief William Fitzpatrick, who climbed the ranks with Kielb, was also strongly considered by Spano to replace retiring commissioner Tony Pagano. Outgoing commissioner Pagano said Kielb was a good pick and wished him luck in the department. The city council must now vote on the appointment. (WONDER WHY CHIEF FITZPATRICK WHO I UNDERSTAND IS THE HIGHEST RANKING OFFICER IN THE YFD AND CHIEF OF OPERATIONS WAS NOT CHOSEN)
  11. RIP - May you find peace where you are now
  12. It ends with a complete (and un-abstructed) Consolidation Plan
  13. I believe that the Yonkers Police Department has its Emergency Service Units use the 800 Series numbers to identify its units (thus the reason why the 850 number was used for this unit). Other YPD numbering sequence represents the Precinct that the unit is out of (ie: 100 Series from the 1st Precinct, 200 Serise from the 2nd Precinct, etc, etc, etc)
  14. I am sure that Barry can answer the manning of each apparatus (Engine Company and Ladder Company in New Rochelle, but I believe that NRFD has the following: Station 1: Tower Ladder 11 Engine 21 Rescue 4 (Not full-time unit - Staff with crew of TL11 when needed) Station 2: Engine 22 Ladder 12 (Now in Brownout situation due to Fiscal Cutbacks - Could be placed out of service permanently) Station 3: Engine 23 Ladder 13 Station 4: Engine 24 Station 5: Engine 25
  15. "As a taxpayer I want economy but I want to be safe too." You can have both - Its called a TOTAL 100% COUNTYWIDE CONSOLIDATION
  16. The Old FDMV Ladder 4 (formally FDMV Ladder 3) was one of those Mount Vernon FD "War Horses" (similiar to the Old FDMV Snorkel 1 and the Old FDMV 1967 Mack C Box Rescue Truck). Many many fires in Mount Vernon this truck went to. Yes, it appears to be in great shape, considering how many times this rig was down for repairs in recent years. I would suspect that the staff up within the Hartsdale FD would have gone thru additional training to run this rig as it is quite different than the ladder trucks that have run up in Hartsdale in years past.
  17. Happy Thanksgiving to all out there in EMTBravo-Land. Make it a safe and warm holiday
  18. CONSOLIDATION OF ALL FIRE and EMS Services. Tax Payers have enough and get tough on the politicians who then tell the Volunteer Groups, Professional Leaders (Chielfs/Commissioners) and Union Leaders that their constituants have had enough and a unified County Run Fire and EMS Operation emerges. No More Village Fire Department, No More Town EMS, No More City of "Fill In The BlanK" Fire Department. Cutbacks forcing Insurance Ratings going down will no longer go fly.
  19. Any photos of Hartsdale's Version of the Old Mount Vernon Ladder?
  20. Absolutely crazy that New Rochelle will be down to only 2 ladder companies. Mutual Aid will then be more prevelant in case of major fires in New Rochelle, that require a 3rd Ladder company. CAN WE AGAIN SAY "REGIONALIZATION" and "COUNTY-WIDE" FIRE DEPARTMENT.
  21. Could not have said it any better Barry.
  22. As sad and horrible it is that the City of New Rochelle is considering laying off 6 Firefighters, the celebration of the 150 year Anniversary of the NRFD is a time to remember all of those members from the past (as well as the present) that put their lives on the line to protect the city. I think that those marching in this parade are doing so to remember those individuals. Hopefully, other surrounding departments (Eastchester, Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, White Plains, etc) will have members/rigs marching in the same parade to help honor the memory of the past 150 years. Hey, maybe the Yonkers FD will bring over their restored 1950's ALF Mid Mount Truck 5 to march in the parade!
  23. Stand Corrected - Thanks Barry !!
  24. Seth - "Back In The Day" A-1 (I believe) had Yonkers and Mount Vernon (they also might have had New Rochelle as well, but not too sure on that one). I remember very well when A-1 was in Yonkers, they had 1 Ambulance housed at St. Joseph's for the "West Side" and one ambulance housed at YFD Station 11 for the "East Side"
