  1. I think alot of people are gonna get PTSD from seeing the interior collapse scene. from the looks of it it could be a good movie IF IT HAD BEEN DONE BEFORE THE ATTACKS!! i mean come on does the public need to reopen these wounds again? haven't we had enough? these film companys and tv stations come up with the worst crap to scare the bejesus out of people. if it is not the WTC its bird flu, if its not bird flu, it's terrorists that are living in the US. i mean maybe it's time to dull this crap down a hair. let people try and get there lives together.

I think that if you want to make this movie, do it Saving Private Ryan style, wait say 30-40 years and then it is history. it is there to teach the kids who have not been born yet what happened. hey guess what we are all alive, we lived through it, we all saw the planes going into the tower like a million times a day, we don't need ot be reminded.

Now the movie looks like it is well put together and i am glad that it is a TRUE story and that the two men involved gave the green light. too soon, yes. but i am gonna need to see more of it before i pass judgement on the film visually.

  2. i think that maybe there needs to be like a Medal Day like the one in NYC. You can get medals for things that merit it. I mean it can also go away from fire scene actions, like fire department related community service and things like that. i know that people get service awards and such but those can be done at the local level. for people who get Rescue citations and Meritous Actions awards, that should be done on the county level. if anyones else has any idea on that feel free to share

  3. thanks als, this weekend i was actually in EMS in eastchester with my gloves on trying to use tools. should have seen the faces on the customers, i am leaning towards the surge because it has the wire cutters and the knives can all be opened from the outside so you don't need open the whole thing to gain access. I saw the crunch online on the leatherman site Crunch and it great that it has pliers but i have a feeling it would be a PITA to engage them in a smoke condition. with the others it is more of a one handed operation. still have not made the final decision but thanks for all the help guys.

  4. I am looking to get a leatherman for my gear but i have no idea what works best in fire department conditions. does anyone have any suggestions? they all look pretty much the same but i thought the Surge and Crunch looked good. please share your input on the subject.

    Pros

    Cons

  5. guys i wrote my post at 1AM. i was just a little out of it. plus we don't use the jaws in my department so get the heck off my back about that stuff since i dont know about it.

Also i never claimed to be some know it all fireman. maybe you guys who like to criticize someone for an honest mistake should loosen up a little. Those who do know me and ACTUALLY WORK WITH ME, know i am pretty well informed with this stuff.

  6. the time is a suggested time. it all depends on the guy, his fitness level, level of work, and weather conditions. i mean a bigger bottle also means more weight, which means more work to haul it around. now it may only be a pound or two more but still.

  7. Well it could be the next "Gone With the Wind", i am not gonna see it. i think that i would rather think of the people on that plane in a mythic, larger then life way. by that i mean i want to think of them as "Good" over coming "Evil". your imagination is much better then fact. i compare it to how a child looks up to firemen, they seem unbreakable, almost inhuman. as you grow up you see they are just men and thats that. let people think about them in that way. Now i know the plot as we all do. i do know that on board were a all american football player, a Judo champion and i think some rugby players. now picture in your mind the amount of A$$ kicking this group could hand out. wouldn't you want to keep it that way? thats how i want to. so if you wanna see it, thats fine.

    thats my 2 cents

    Stay safe guys

  8. I never seen this but ive heard from people i go to school with that I-87 from White Plains North is a race track. Some people say that they have gone 140 even 160mph (I highly dought it but maybe like 1am ish 2am ish) Its kinda scary since these are like 18-17yrs olds like me its SCARY. I have never gone faster than 90. :o

i believe it. i have almost been taken out a number of times by some brat in daddys BMW M3 coming home that way. Basicly anywhere there is a long straight away is there race track. most kids have just got their papers and have been behinf the wheel only a number of times. i am 27 and i can respect the rules of the road. I remember what is was like to be young and in a new car, (see earlier post), but i think i heard that they were giving some new system a try with the new drivers. anyone hear about this? like you cant drive unrestricted till your like 19 or something. maybe it is my just wishing i didn't have to cut kids out of wrecks,in the rain, on the Hutch.

    Drive safe guys

  9. You should save that kind of driving/speed for the race track. One little mistake or car malfunction and you'll not only be ruining your day, but maybe someone else's day or life for that matter.

I'm a licensed NHRA drag racer and know that driving fast is fun but can be very dangerous even in an controlled environment like the race track where it's desined for racing.

Well that was a long time ago. i drive alot safer now and have never gotten a speeding ticket. i was just young and dumb at the time. also no one else was in tha car and i did slow down when i saw another car.

  10. there is that nice straight away on the south bound side that the troopers could stake out and pick cars off all day. then they can take the money from the tickets and pay for more troopers. see then everyone is happy.

this guy did this at ONE IN THE AFTERNOON . there are tons of people out at that time. i had my 98 Jetta up to about 120 on 95 once. of course that was at 3am and i was not drinking nor impared with anything.
