  1. How long has JetBlue been in business?

They have one off week or so and then they are the worst airline out there? It was in a SNOW STORM. i know it is screwed up to be stuck in a sardine can for 11 hours but that was one incident. it's cool that the two pilots went and grabbed a plane but is that legal for them to just take a plane?

I've flown jetblue and am friends with one of there pilots and i think it is fine and plan to fly them again. Remember that these are discount flights. go check how much a flight to FL is this week and then look at jetblue maybe it will be the same.

  2. It's the only job i have ever wanted to do. i tried other jobs from working in a cancer hospital to business to being a medical technician. i always felt that something was missing and it was just not me.

I come from a family were where my elders were all servicemen. My father is a Vietnam army vet, his father flew a for the 8th Air Force in WWII, and my other grandfather was in the Navy.

I want to serve my community and when i am old and gray, i can tell say, with confidence, that i made a difference and that my kids and grandkids can be proud of me.

  3. that one person in their SUV going 7, yes 7 miles an hour with their flashers.  there is no need for the flashers, and no need to go 7 miles an hour.

If they feel the need to be going 7 miles an hour maybe they should have just stayed home. it's not like they DIDN'T know there was a snow storm coming.

I hate the people who see you coming and just HAVE to make that turn with everyone else but end up "Blocking the Box" and then look at you like your crazy for laying into the siren when you get there.

  4. just walked by and took a look. looked pretty nasty in there. you could very easily get jammed up. i am not sure but i looked as if the C side was build into the rock behind the building. The icicle covered trees were interesting. wish i have my camera but what you gonna do.

    Nice Pics Shantz

  5. BOSTON - A judge ordered two men held on bond Thursday for allegedly placing electronic advertising devices around the city in a publicity stunt that went awry and stirred fears of terrorism, shutting down parts of Boston.

Peter Berdovsky, 27, and Sean Stevens, 28, were held on $2,500 cash bond each after they pleaded not guilty to placing a hoax device and disorderly conduct for a device found Wednesday at a subway station.

Officials found 38 blinking electronic signs promoting the Cartoon Network TV show "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" on bridges and other high-profile spots across the city Wednesday, prompting the closing of a highway and the deployment of bomb squads. The surreal series is about a talking milkshake, a box of fries and a meatball. The network is a division of Turner Broadcasting Systems Inc.

"It's clear the intent was to get attention by causing fear and unrest that there was a bomb in that location," Assistant Attorney General John Grossman said at their arraignment.

The 1-foot tall signs, which were lit up at night, resembled a circuit board, with protruding wires and batteries. Most depicted a boxy, cartoon character giving passersby the finger — a more obvious sight when darkness fell.

The men did not speak or enter their own pleas, but they appeared amused and smiled as the prosecutor talked about the device found at Sullivan Station underneath Interstate 93, looking like it had C-4 explosive.

"The appearance of this device and its location are crucial," Grossman said. "This device looks like a bomb."

    Some in the gallery snickered.

Outside the courthouse, Michael Rich, a lawyer for both of the men, said the description of a bomb-like device could be used for any electronic device.

"If somebody had left a VCR on the ground it would have been a device with wires, electronic components and a power source," he said.

Boston officials were livid when the devices were discovered.

"It is outrageous, in a post 9/11 world, that a company would use this type of marketing scheme," Mayor Thomas Menino said Wednesday. "I am prepared to take any and all legal action against Turner Broadcasting and its affiliates for any and all expenses incurred during the response to today's incidents."

Berdovsky, an artist, told The Boston Globe he was hired by a marketing company and said he was "kind of freaked out" by the furor.

"I find it kind of ridiculous that they're making these statements on TV that we must not be safe from terrorism, because they were up there for three weeks and no one noticed. It's pretty commonsensical to look at them and say this is a piece of art and installation," he said.

Fans of the show mocked authorities for what they called an overreaction.

About a dozen fans gathered outside Charlestown District Court on Thursday morning with signs saying "1-31-07 Never Forget" and "Free Peter."

"We're the laughing stock," said Tracy O'Connor, 34.

"It's almost too easy to be a terrorist these days," said Jennifer Mason, 26. "You stick a box on a corner and you can shut down a city."

Authorities vowed to hold Turner accountable for what Menino said was "corporate greed," that led to at least $750,000 in police costs.

As soon as Turner realized the Boston problem around 5 p.m., it said, law enforcement officials were told of their locations in 10 cities where it said the devices had been placed for two to three weeks: Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Ore., Austin, Texas, San Francisco and Philadelphia.

"We apologize to the citizens of Boston that part of a marketing campaign was mistaken for a public danger," said Phil Kent, chairman of Turner, a division of Time Warner Inc.

Kent said the marketing company that placed the signs, Interference Inc., was ordered to remove them immediately.

Interference had no comment. A woman who answered the phone at the New York-based firm's offices Wednesday afternoon said the firm's CEO was out of town and would not be able to comment until Thursday.

Messages seeking additional comment from the Atlanta-based Cartoon Network were left with several publicists.

Authorities are investigating whether Turner or other companies should be criminally charged, Attorney General Martha Coakley said. "We're not going to let this go without looking at the further roots of how this happened to cause the panic in this city," Coakley said.

In Seattle and several suburbs, the removal of the signs was low-key. "We haven't had any calls to 911 regarding this," Seattle police spokesman Sean Whitcomb said Wednesday.

Police in Philadelphia said they believed their city had 56 devices.

The New York Police Department removed 41 of the devices — 38 in Manhattan and three in Brooklyn, according to spokesman Paul Browne. The NYPD had not received any complaints. But when it became aware of the situation, it contacted Cartoon Network, which provided the locations so the devices could be removed.

"Aqua Teen Hunger Force" is a cartoon with a cultish following that airs as part of a block of programs for adults on the Cartoon Network. A feature length film based on the show is slated for release March 23.

  6. Went to Home Depot today to get some work gloves and when i got there the NRFD was on scene and seemed to be investigating. I hung out for about 20 min and when i left they were going up on the roof.

Anyone got any info on what went down?

  7. A student at George Davis Elementary School reportedly pulled the fire alarm on Friday, one of the coldest days of the year

It was a false alarm and a kid pulled it. maybe instead of bothering the school you should go talk to little Jimmy's mother and father and ask them why their son pulled the alarm? It's not the schools fault, it is the childs fault. i don't mean to sound like i hate kids but you can see that this was done by a CHILD. I am sure he just thought it could be cool or peer-pressure, he is in elementary school. It's not like the Principal woke up and said " man it's cold out today, we should have a fire drill!"

  8. couldn't the town help out? maybe a donation drive? It would seem like a good idea to have the town pay the very small amount of $28,000, then have the department pay the town. it didn't say but i am assuming it is an all volunteer department and would think that the town gives them some money anyway.

Have the amount of 28,000 taken away from next years budget or build it in, and everything would be fine.

  9. TOKYO - Japan's Meteorological Agency issued tsunami warnings Saturday following a powerful 8.3 magnitude earthquake in the Pacific Ocean and officials ordered coastal residents to flee to higher ground.

The agency said waves as high as 3.3-feet could hit the northeastern coast of Japan's northern island of Hokkaido around 2 p.m. (12 a.m. EST).

The quake struck around 1:24 p.m. about 310 miles east of the Etorofu islands between northern Japan and Russia, the agency said. There were no immediate report of injuries or damage from the quake.

Local authorities along Hokkaido's coast ordered residents living along the northern and eastern coasts of Japan's northern main island of Hokkaido to evacuate to higher ground.

Hideo Suzuki, a municipal official for the town of Rausu, said he had not observed any visible change of the sea level as of around 2 p.m., although the town has ordered all residents to evacuate.

Temblors of magnitude 7 are generally classified as major earthquakes, capable of widespread, heavy damage.

Tsunami waves — generated by earthquakes — are often barely noticeable in the ocean but can rise to great heights once they arrive at shore.

On Dec. 26, 2004, a magnitude-9.0 earthquake off Indonesia's Sumatra island spawned giant waves that fanned out across the Indian Ocean at jetliner speeds, leaving at least 230,000 dead and millions of homeless in its wake.

ok my question here is there are 3 foot waves and people are freaking out? the tsunami a few years back had waves like 20 feet. why are they causing all this rukus? out at sea i am sure there are ships and weather bouys that would give information that nothing huge is coming. a 3 foot sweall will do some damage but not wide spread damage like a big wave.

  10. the issue is not that they have stuff on the outside but that i am sure some guys have stuff that we shall say is "in questionable taste". There is no way they meant "NO MASS CARDS AND NO FLAGS".

I think that this issue should delt with on a 1 to 1 basis. if one guys finds something offensive then ask the guy to take it down. more over this is a fire house and the locker area is not for the public to see or be in. this would mean that it was an internal issue and should be delt like that. no need to make a huge deal about it. just say guys clean it up a little and maybe put the real questionable stuff on the inside of the locker.

  11. how about if when these incidents accure, the city fine the family for the crimes that the person did. Now if the family decides not to sue, fines will not be applied. their son was doing something illegal. how can they think that they are the ones who have the right to sue. it is horrible that the person died but thats his fault. it's not like he was taging a building and then something fell off the building and killed him. he put himself in a dagerous situation on his own. it is like a firemen sueing cause he got burned.
