  1. It's easier to just make it long enough to fit on your front brim, that way you mask up, put the helmet on then pull it down under your chin, click on the air supply and off you go. Thats how we were taught at the academy. plus if you look out a window or bump into something hard enough you helmet will fall off.

  2. they had a long time to plan this final episode but it ended like " huh?" for a second i thought my TV had craped out at the last second but then the credits rolled and i was like thats is some real cliffhanger stuff. i thought it was good and there was suspense at every corner since you had no idea what could happen. They could have let us know what happened to Silvio, did he die? is he in a coma for ever? as for the movie idea i think that that would be a bad idea. it would not work out. you need an ongoing story flow, not something that has a start, middle and an ending. But it was a great run and it seems like yesterday that there was this new show on HBO about the mob. It will be missed.

  3. I like the women in the trailer who's ride in an ambulances was denied because it was not pre-approved.

Ya he is kinda annoying but he makes things "funny" so that you can bear watching it. i mean who really wants to sit down and watch a documentary on gun control and columbine? Sept 11? i will wait for it to come out and see it for a dollar.

  4. well put Chris. I have to agree and think that the rescue team just got tunnel vision and were to complacent with there search. i mean they had her location so it was not like they had to search the whole structure to find her. Maybe there were two bathrooms in the place and they searched one and didn't find anyone, then continued their search. i will wait for all the details but your eyes never lie, so use them.

  5. I've been riding the train to NYC from Pelham for free for years. all you do is show the conductor your shield discreetly and they just walk on by. if you make a big deal about it then they might ask for ID and be a pain in the a$$. just be respectful and most guys will let ya ride. i have never taken the bus but i would think that they would let you ride for free also.

  6. OK the town has a population of 27,217, is 3.1 sq miles. it is a suburb of Cleveland and they cant get extra cops? Its is kinda like saying that Morris Park (pop of about 30,000) in the Bronx doesn't have enough money for the cops so the FDNY has to help out. It is a dumb idea and you are either one or the other, not both. you want to have them write tickets for fire related things like parking in front of a hydrant or in a fire lane, well that makes sense. but Joe Firemen should not be chasing down perps when he is off.

also side thought, are these guys gonna get two pensions when they retire? they are doing two jobs that have a pension system. just a random thought

(all my population numbers are from Wikipedia, and is more for comparison to size and not the actual communities themselves)

  7. OH CRY ME A RIVER!! Hey rocket scientist, it's a voluntary test. you CHOOSE to take it. If blacks, Asians, or Women don't want to take the test, well thats the way it is. DEAL WITH IT!! If this jacka$$ wants to have the problem fixed just take off the race and gender option from the test. just have people answer the questions and take the physical and leave it at that.

  8. own it and love it. it lets you make some command decisions that effect the outcome of the scenario. in the opening scenario if you don't get the fire under control it will move to either the north or it might south. It is always the same fire but it changes each time you play based on where you deploy men and trucks. there is also a plot to it so it is not like mindless scenario's. they give you some basic info going into the call so you know if there is a school or a haz-mat situation. it is a good buy and as long as your video card can handle it you will waste away many nights playing biggrin.gif

  9. I am predicting about 20 mins of rain then sunshine for the remainder of the day. biggrin.gif

who knows what is to come. i guess just keep an eye on the Weather Channel and not the local news stations. Sam Champion or Al Roaker might get a little excited and say that frogs and chipmunks are gonna be falling from the sky or something.

  10. In looking at the picture of the Euro-Style helmet, i believe that it due to the construction of the buildings. i remember reading a article about the differences. I am not really a fan of the euro style cause in case of a emergency you cant break the seal on your face. I know that by not having the brim it eliminates the chance of getting entangled, but by having it keeps the falling embers from falling in your neck. As per truck color, i agree WHO CARES? as long as it has four wheel and gets the job done i could care less. ( i do prefer Red, though biggrin.gif ) I think the Black gear is just the way it is. it is black even in some parts of England and Europe. I know it is tradition and some guys "just like it that way", but i don't see why it is such and issue. every scene should be properly lit and roads should be closed if it is a car accident. Black is what we wear here in the Northeast and that is Tradition. i am sure the Tan color might be more visible, but the black absorbs more sun in the winter and will keep you warmer. I now this is not scientific but is true. it sucks in the summer but most of our year is a bit cooler.

  11. This guy was only doing his job. I think that the police are being a little hot headed about this. i know that it might hit close to home having the pics in the paper but there is nothing wrong with it, legally. they want to say he is a "public servant" but it seemed ok for him to take photographs on all the other scenes but suddenly it's a cop and then he is not allowed to take these pics and he is interfering with a murder investigation? It was a head on collision with a drunk driver, what part of the pictures were interfering with the investigation? if the pics were of a mangled body then we have something to talk about but i have a feeling that they were just exterior pics of the car. i think Sgt. Terronez just had an issue with him and took this as an opportunity to get back at him.

  12. The camera is just an extension of the photographer. You need to have an eye for it and a little bit of luck. as was mentioned if you give a $5000 camera to someone who has no eye for what might work as a picture, you will not get a great picture. I think that the photographer makes it work with what ever he has. i have seen pics that were taken on a box camera that were breath taking. they all do the same thing, just some take the guess work out of it. An luck plays a very large roll in it. As HFD said you just have to shoot as much as you can, which is easier if you have a digital and can take like 600 pics on a disk. you can think a pic is gonna be sweet then i can stink and one you were just fooling around with can win you a first prize in a photo contest.

  13. well the way i look at it if you get a couple of guys on scene quick, they can hit the hydrant, and start a search or pull a line, just get the ball rolling. I know they are not gonna knock it down with a couple of guys but you have a four man crew on a truck or engine and they can get some work done while the vols are on their way in. Time is of the essence, a fire truck sitting in the apparatus bay is not helping anyone. now i know that you hit traffic and sometimes the weather is not on your side but the respond to the call system has worked in my company and i think that it could work in alot of the ones in LI.

  14. Think about how this might look to people who read the articles about how much money LI spends on its Fire Departments. in that article they talked about how some fire houses where right on top of one another. they had large amounts of money coming in from the state and state of the art equipment and all that. But if the guys can't respond in a timely fashion then maybe thats why they need to rethink their options. i know this is just one incident but i am sure that the response times are always like this and in a job were seconds count you need guys going to the call when the call comes in, not to the fire house then the fire. maybe a combination department where you have your paid guys drive the rig to the call and have the vols keep their gear in the car to respond straight to the call. That would shave response times down, which in turn would effect the towns fire rating and most likely save lives and property. There are only 2 Paid departments in LI so maybe it's time to raise that number and form a few more. Consolidate a few fire districts and group towns together. they have the facilities already built, its just a matter of getting guys into the houses.

  15. ya it is not good but guess what, a whole lot of guys do it and don't get caught. I think that they should just do away with the credit system for residency, they can leave the military credits though cause at least with that you really have to prove it.

Any info on if they are gonna crack down on false residencies?
