  1. That would make one hell of a chief's car! lol You can bring your crew with you too. And it has lots of room for gear. Joking aside, who would really buy that? :-k It looks like you need a ladder to get into the bed.

  3. What is a fire patrol unit? Is it like fire-police? When are they in service?
  4. Thanks for all of the info guys!! You guys are great. =D>
  5. On a ride along the other night, we did see a PO rig pull someone over.
  6. Tarrytown E 80 - "The Dock Rats" E 77 - "Trailer Trash" (no fire house, just a trailer) E 79 - Hope Hose - "Where there's fire, There's Hope" On E 77, "Fightin' Fires, Savin' Lives" w/ a picture of Elmer Fudd in turnout pants w/a jaws on his shoulder
  7. Tarrytown PD has two of TVAC's old rigs. One, a 1988 Horton, is a prisoner transport. The other, a 1994 Braun, is a (I believe) mobile command post. Stiloski's Towing repainted the rigs from white w/orange striping to white w/blue striping. On the latest rig, they also put some pretty hot looking graphics. TPD wanted to replace the old rig with the new one, but they said it was "too nice" to convert for prisoner transport. I have no idea whats inside of it though.
  8. Not that I can think of any, but are there any other good fire movies?
  9. I guess I'll have to rent it now. I justed wanted to see what you FF's had to say about it.
  10. Correction, Tarrytown DPW doesnt plow our parking lot, a member of the FD does. DPW still does a great job, and so does the FF. =D> =D> =D>
  11. Tarrytown PD are supposed to page out, if a full crew hasnt called back within 4 mins, TPD calls for mutual aid. Sometimes they do page out more than once or wait a little longer than they should for a backup call.
  12. In Tarrytown, we are paged out by Tarrytown PD. They give us the details of the call. The duty crew chief calls back to TPD HQ to confirm that we received the page and that our crew will be responding shortly. After the entire crew assembles, or as long as most of the crew is their within a reasonable time frame, the rig leaves. When PD receives the call, they will send 2 units most of the time, page us, and call for an ALS intercept from Greenburgh PD. If ALS isn't needed, we cancel them, or they come and ride w/us to the hospital or don't go w/us. If their is a backup call, if a crew doesnt respond within 4 mins, mutual aid is called in.
  13. At TVAC, the DPW will usually plow our parking lot, but our members still do a lot of work. However we still owe a big thanks to the DPW because they will try to get a plow to lead the way if we get called out during a storm. Last week, their was a plow waiting I/F/O our bay doors before my dad, who was upstairs, had gone downstairs and opened the door. Thanks a lot Tarrytown DPW!!
  14. At TVAC, as far as I know, we do use the 1,2,3 numbering for line officers. However, you will very rarely hear them used on the radio since we are supposed to respond from HQ, not our place of residence. The only time I can remember hearing the number systme was at the Chestnut St fire in Sleepy in June of 04. Both of Sleepy's rigs were on stand-by at the fire, our duty crew was on stand-by at the fire, our back-up crew was on standby to cover Sleepy if they got a call, IVAC was covering Tarrytown, and one of IVAC's rigs were on stand-by at the fire as well.
  15. COMMANDCHIEF, i did hear that they also wanted to centralize the police department as well (get rid of the village pd's). I also heard that all of the village chiefs, except for Tarrytown's was up for the idea. I dont know what would happen to the existing stations and officers. I dont know if they will be shut down or the stations would become sub-stations or precincts or if the officers will have to find new jobs or become GPD officers. When I was talking to one of the officers in Greenburgh, he said that he had heard that idea every year since he's been hired. We'll see what happens.
  16. The 1st season of the Dukes of Hazzard is available on DVD. 13 episodes in total and some extras and a preview of the new Dukes of Hazzard video game. The stupid thing is they took the Confederate flag oof of the top of the General in the game.
  17. A lot of times ive seen ff responding on alarms on the thruway respond on the thruway leave their POV at the trooper barricks and wait for the next truck tocome through.
  18. Hey Guys, My name is Andrew. I am a junior at Sleepy Hollow HS. I am a NYS Certified First Responder. I am the Captain of the Tarrytown VAC Junior Corps. I been a member there since I was 14. I am also the Lieutenant of the Greenburgh Police Explorers. I hope to become a police officer in the future. Hopefully, I can attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice after HS. I look forward to talking to everyone.
  19. Firemn23 is correct, TFD does allow POVs on the thruway. I forgot to mention that the chiefs go out as well.
  20. I had Virgin mibile, I too ended up paying more for prepaid then I regular monthly bill, so I got a nextel. If your not going to use it too much, you might only be putting in $20 a month, but the rates are screwy. Its 25 cents/minute for the first ten minutes and then 10 cents/minute after that, but it resests itself everyday. I would stay away from it though.
  21. I heard that the county was planning on revamping the diversion procedures. No more than 4 hospitals could be on diversion at one time and no two hospitals that lay next to each other could be on diversion at the same time. (i.e. Phelps and Dobbs Ferry) I also heard that someone from the county has to go to the hospital and approve it to go on diversion. Does anyone know any details on this?
  22. Good luck guys! I hope you can make enough money for whatever equipment it is that you need. I hope I can make it.
  23. If i'm not mistaken Tarrytown FD uses E-77 &E-78 for extrication calls and E-77 and E-79 for car fires. TVAC and Greenburgh ALS for MVA's.
  24. I know many departments are toned out by their PD's. I know it would take some getting used to, but 60 Control probably could handle it. I'm not totally sure about this, but if I'm not mistaken, Tarrytown FD used to be paged by 60 Control, but then got their own frequency (156.225). Maybe rreimund could comment on this.
  25. I know there would be confusion as to wheter to pull over or not, but either way you have to. I have seen POs in fly-cars pull people over, but I have yet to see an ambulance pull someone over.
