100% agreement. Westchester's 911 system is very ALS dependent, whether its the utilization of ALS because its pretty much always available or if it is poor instruction to begin with
Nothing like a serious call with no ALS available... BLS save!!

its the same as the "Q", Electronic "Q" and the air horn at the same time. I dont know if it confuses drivers but it makes a lot of noise

the steamlight fire vulcan has my vote, great light intensity with the tail lights and easy to use with bulky gloves

Our department just conducted a drill, stressing seatbelts, full PPE and Haz-Mat and the fact is not many of us do use a seatbelt and we get dressed in the cab while responding. In relation to this car fire i read a story in a magazine about a FF who was assesing and sizing up a car fire with a chief waiting for the first due engine, he was in front of the car and without warning the hood strut exploded, traveled through the hood and clean through the FF's leg and PPE pants. Another instance: a senior man in my department was telling me about a car fire in a garage and the same incident occured, only the strut went through a concrete wall and continued down the street whizzing by our guys outside and coming to rest down the street

our ladder has a 45' bangor ladder just because of the sheer amount of power lines that prevent raising the stick

Joke:
What do you call a 1,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A damn good start!
Why won't a shark eat a lawyer? Professional courtesy.
Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week.
What do you call a lawyer up to his neck in sand?> not enough sand

The other day at a drill, i was using one of those masks even though i don't like them, an i couldn't get a good seal on the mask, in a sense i was loosing more than using and that probably why. The other model is the greatest mask ever.

The whole mutual aid system still amazes me. For years, Rye and Port Chester had a strong system in place for each other. Then personalities conflicted and it all went to hell. Take last nights fire in Rye for example. I am not in any way trying to offend the companies that responded and provided assistance to this incident. Port Chester has 5 engines 2 ladders, and a heavy rescue that are available and respond fully staffed. I know that we wont send all of the volunteer companies, but this is what we have. Why would Rye call for help from such distances as West Harrison or the Town of Mamaroneck when help is just 5 minutes away? The decisions from some people just amaze me.The Village Of Mamaroneck has always called PCFD first for M/A, Mainly beacuase of a Good Relationship and The fact that they come with Manpower and lots of it

Our company has a Seagrave and it is a excellent truck. the only problem we have had is the the dealer installed generator, it worked then it didn't. Other then that, solid truck, good ride. overall its a basic truck nothing special. the dealer is actually is right in mamaroneck and do every thing for us and on any make. The company is called Excelsior Fire Equipment they sell seagrave and fix anything. Im sure that most of southern Westchester uses them. they do good work
