the steamlight fire vulcan has my vote, great light intensity with the tail lights and easy to use with bulky gloves

Our department just conducted a drill, stressing seatbelts, full PPE and Haz-Mat and the fact is not many of us do use a seatbelt and we get dressed in the cab while responding. In relation to this car fire i read a story in a magazine about a FF who was assesing and sizing up a car fire with a chief waiting for the first due engine, he was in front of the car and without warning the hood strut exploded, traveled through the hood and clean through the FF's leg and PPE pants. Another instance: a senior man in my department was telling me about a car fire in a garage and the same incident occured, only the strut went through a concrete wall and continued down the street whizzing by our guys outside and coming to rest down the street

our ladder has a 45' bangor ladder just because of the sheer amount of power lines that prevent raising the stick

The other day at a drill, i was using one of those masks even though i don't like them, an i couldn't get a good seal on the mask, in a sense i was loosing more than using and that probably why. The other model is the greatest mask ever.

I am Taking a CPAT test in the spring and i am currently trainng but want to up the anty and start using the vest with a stairmaster Where can i get a good one for a good price and what else should i do to prepare?

Our company has a Seagrave and it is a excellent truck. the only problem we have had is the the dealer installed generator, it worked then it didn't. Other then that, solid truck, good ride. overall its a basic truck nothing special. the dealer is actually is right in mamaroneck and do every thing for us and on any make. The company is called Excelsior Fire Equipment they sell seagrave and fix anything. Im sure that most of southern Westchester uses them. they do good work

In Mamaroneck, Engine 41 & 42 handle I95 calls. There rigs have rescue & extrication tools. Ladder 20 has some rescue equipment but more along the lines of rope rescue situations. The other companies, engine 40 & 38 are basic rigs with stanardized equipment for structure fires and and other alarms. Ladder 21 is a basic truck with no specialized equipment. Every engine has basic hand tools and rescue rope as well as the works for fires. the ladders are just ladders no pumps or water, but with an engine hooked up to L-20, you can flow water from the tip of the ladder.
