Rescue 3 as well as Squad 41 responds in to the 16th Battalion in Manhattan. This particular fire was in 69 Engines first due area...They were on an EMS carry down and did not respond to the job til the 10-75 was transmitted. 59 Engine was first due along with 28 truck. This fifth floor apartment had heavy fire and as usual the companies did a great job. This type of tenement is the bread and butter type fires of the units of this area.

One note, as tenemant fires are bread-and-butter fires. More and more now we are seeing the rehab tenemant that cannot be dealt with in the same fashion.

From last nights job, the building structure is about 90 years old or more (guessing). If you look closely on the close-ups of the fire room (after the site error is fixed) there is light-weight steel "C-Joist" floor joists throughout.

That TOTALLY changes operations in these buildings! As you know, we can no longer work in these buildings for an hour before we have to worry about collapse potential.
