Units Operating: 2462,2463, E-76,E-77,TL-78,E-79,E-80, Elmsford Engine

Description Of Incident: Large Brush Fire on hill

1438- Alarm 1-6 transmitted for E-77 to respond to Bayer Labs on the hill for a minor brush fire

1440- 2462 10-19 requesting a second minor alarm 1-1 be put out for E-80 to respond with man power. E-77 responding

1442- E-77 10-19, E-80 responding. Small brush fire spread due to wind about 1 mile up the steep hill. Fire now covering large area of woods. 2462 requests Tarrytown Fire Comm. to put out a general alarm and to put Sleepy Hollow engine on stand-by in Main Street fire headquarters.

1444- E-80 10-19 hitting hydrant. Incoming units advised to enter Dunnings drive and extend lines through that side. Fire continues to spread and moving fast due to dry leaves and wind. 2463 10-19 Dunnings drive. E-76, TL-78, E-79 responding

1447- E-76, TL-78, E-79 10-19 Dunnings drive. 2462 requests all man power to enter woods with tools and hand lines to be extended. Fire still spreading

1458- Elmsford chief advises 60-control that one of their engines with man power is operating at the near by marriot hotel and requests to know if they are needed. 2462 advises the Elmsford engine to respond to Dunnings drive for man power.

1540- fire spread cut off

1550- fire k/d. 2462 orders all area to be wet down throughly

1615- as per 2462 all units can pick up and return with thanks to Elmsford Fire and Sleepy Hollow

near by neighbors say the fire was caused by 3 kids setting off fire crackers in the dry leaves
