LODD On Long Island

8 posts in this topic

We have been advised that an Ex-Captain from the West Babylon Fire Department (Suffolk County, Long Island, New York) was tragically killed this evening while removing a salvage tarp from the roof of a building that had previously burned.

While removing the tarp off the roof, Ex-Captain Mike Green was electrocuted and has passed away. We will provide more details as soon as they are available on FireFighterCloseCalls.com.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the members of the West Babylon Fire Department but especially to the family and friends of Captain Green.

For those of you that may be unfamiliar, in that area of the Country, an "Ex-Captain" is often still a very active member of their FD. The "Ex" status is due to the election process and rotation of those elected through several positions. Once the term is served, the honored status of "Ex-Captain" applies.

Again-our deepest sympathies go out to the WBFD.

Take care-BE CAREFUL.

Another example on how things can go wrong in an instant. Heaven's ranks have swelled once again. May he rest in peace.

May his family find peace in the thought and prayers of firefighters all over that mourn for his soul.

This is a dangerous profession that we choose to be involved with, we just pray every day that we get home safely.

My prayers go to his families...both at home and the firehouse. I used to volunteer with Northport FD. Rest In Peace Brother.
