Why did that topic close???? whats wrong with discussing it?

Because it's a highly volatile politcal issue (down there), and really doesn't affect this area or the majority of the members on this board- the situation they have there is unique and irrelevant.

On top of that, it was primarily a solicitation to sign a petition on another site regarding that local political issue, to which signing would not benefit any member of this forum, and not a topic presented for discussion.
