Some more info on this confined space rescue....Due to the location in a deep wooded hillside area about 300' from the road, multiple trees were used as anchor points for the 2 firefighters that rappeled down approx 30' in a 4' x 4' concrete drainage basin along the Catskill Aqueduct. A third rope line and anchor point to a tree was used to hold the victim at his location. While the patient was being packaged, a make shift A frame was set up using 2 extension ladders using webbing. Additional rope was used to secure the A frame to 2 more trees for anchor points. The patient was then hoisted up via backboard in a stokes basket using a 4 to 1 pulley system that was attached to the A frame. The patient was removed and transported to Hudson Valley Hospital by 69B3 with 35Medic1 aboard. NYC DEP Police also responded along with the Town of Cortlandt Code Enforcement. All Units picked up by 0415 hrs.
