EJS1810 THANKS!

Looks like it's a nice Firehouse. (from the outside)

NYC must have spent some $$$$ in renovations for EMS.

All over the city of Bridgeport old firehouses can be found.  Two of the most notable are Engine 14 now a Police Precinct and the Fmr Quarters of E7 L11 on Fairfield Ave, now a boxing gym.  Also in the E3/E4 area off wood ave another abandoned firehouse can be found.  Also Bpt. is in the works of building a new Firestation for E10 L10 on Boston Ave, their current firehouse on Putnam St. is worth driving past to get a view of some great old architecture still being used today.

Ah fond memories of the old "yellowbird" Ward running out of 14's. I remember the last day it ran out of there before being disbanded. Also I think Eng / Lad 10 is the oldest firehouse still in existance, with the exception of several older volunteer houses around, built for horse drawn purposes. Great old looking building hater to see it go but it would be nice so the engine MPO guys don't have to get up in the middle of the night to move the pump out so Ladder 10 can respond. biggrin.gif

The "original" Somers fire house, which was operated by the Amawalk-Shenorock VFD, before we changed our name to the Somers VFD- is located at the intersections of Shenorock Drive and Hillandale Road in Shenorock, it is now the Shenorock United Owners Association's Clubhouse, which it has been since the Fire Department vacated it in 1937. As legend has it- our 1st rig, a 1921 White combination chemical/pumper is buried in the front lawn!
