Dark room question

2 posts in this topic

I'm going to build a darkroom for my son and am worried about the chemical waste that might end up going down the drain. Ie: rinsing of photos. I have a septic system and don't want to kill the bacteria (I finally, after many thousands, have a system that works properly). Any suggestions? Thanks

I just took a photography class in college and I know that we were only able to put developer down the drain. When you use the fixer we had to put it into hazardous waste containers which were picked up throughout the semester. Everything else was able to go down the drains with no problems.
