Millwood Fire - injury

Millwood Fire

Just read the above article and it mentioned that a Junior Firefighter was injured trying to vent the roof. Can any of the Millwood guys clarify this? I was under the impression that Junior Members (explorers to some) were not allowed to enter or go up on the structure. In order to do roof ops, you must be an interior FF (and an experienced one I would emphasize). I would think any IC would be nervous about a junior member going on the roof. Hopefully I just read this wrong.

By junior firefighter he meant a young firefighter. The member is a college student, fully qualified. The member that was sent to the roof is NOT a junior firefighter. He is a fully qualified FF2. There were NO exterior firefighters inside of the structure or on the roof at any time. The firefighter is doing just fine and participated in drill last evening; just hours after the structure fire.

Thta's good to hear. The way I read it in the paper is what prompted the post. Glad to "clear the air" on that one.
