JACKSON, MARY B.

Mary B. Jackson of Fayetteville, PA, formerly of Montrose, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2007. Mary was born on August 30, 1923 to Cornelius and Honora O'Neill in Lismore, Ireland. On January 20, 1945 she was married to John Jackson at Holy Rosary Church in Yonkers. After living in Yonkers together for several years, they moved to Montrose in 1955. Mr. Jackson died in 1996. Mary worked at Furnace Woods School as a Cafeteria Worker, and was an active member of the Montrose Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman's Association Ladies Auxiliary and a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Verplanck where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. Mary is survived by her loving children, John of Montrose, NY, Michael of Myrtle Beach, SC, Joseph of Fairfield, PA, Thomas of Montrose, NY, Daniel of Croton, NY Kathleen Hopkins of Manchester, MO and Susan Merkel of Myrtle Beach, SC. Devoted sister of Nora "Pheby" Moynihan of Pearl River, NY. She is also survived by 15 adoring grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers Peter and Augustine O'Neill and a grandson, Sean Jackson in 2006. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 170 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose, NY from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 1 at St. Patrick's Church in Verplanck at 10 AM. Interment will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Verplanck on Saturday, March 3 at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Cortlandt Community Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Equipment Fund, 6 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose, NY 10548.

mary, better known to most of us here in montrose as "mother mary" was an active person here in the community. raising 7 children here with her deceased husband "pop" Jackson. A devoted wife,mother,grandmother and community hearted person. she will be missed by all! Rest in peace.
