A Great Tribute!!

5 posts in this topic

Today while driving on the Taconic Pkwy up to Yorktown (King China Buffet to get my eat on!!) I saw a really awesome tribute. I was approaching Millwood and I saw some engines, and tanker, and a rescue on the side of the parkway. I was wondering what was going on until I see hundreds of bikers going south bound, then I reached an over pass where a tower ladder and ladder had the American flag flying, I thought it was so awesome. Then about 3 miles up Yorktown ladder had there ladder up with the American Flag flying, it was the most patriotic thing I have scene in a long time. Each Motorcyclist had an American flag on the cycle and everyone was honking at them, it was great, and made chills run up and down my spine. Good Job to the depts who did such a great thing today!!

But then I was on my way home and I saw a Millwood chief car getting towed away!! #-o ](*,)

Yup... Car 2253 was towed. Alternator went while two Millwood FF's took the car to assist Hawthorne with traffic for a biker who went down on the TSP.

It was a great way for us to spend the afternoon. E-245 (old TS-2) and Mt. Kisco TL-14 displayed the Stars & Stripes on the Pinesbridge Road overpass while MA-10 and T-15 flew the flag at the Pinesbridge and Rt100 on ramps, R-36 had the flag at the turnaround in the middle of the district, and I had E-247 on the grass at the bottom end of our district. The State Police and an unknown police motorcycle escorted over 1000 bikes from Mahopac to Ground Zero. The bikers loved it, as did just about every motorist who honked on their way past.

One of the guys in my shop took his Harley down on that run. He said there were 2000 motorcycles all told. He also said that our Senator Vinnie Leibell had arrangements made to cordon off a 4 block area in Little Italy reserved for motorcycles only. He added that the whole thing was very touching. Said it was GREAT!
