NYC Sanitation Spreader/Plow:Identify This Chasis

11 posts in this topic

Does anyone know what type/brand this chasis is?

I'm torn between a Mack or Peterbilt, both of which have built custom cabs exlcusively for NYC. I've only seen a few on this chasis, most seem to be on a standard Mack MR.

That should be CCC, or the Crane Carrier Corporation. They are still around, and they build heavy duty chassis for NYC Sanitation; they also have been used in mixer type application as well as yard switching tractors. Check em out at:

Don't know who the chassis is but that cab is a TCM (Truck Cab manufacturing) design.

Thanks everybody for the responses.

Never heard of this company before, learn something new everyday.

Wonder why the city used them? Are there any others in our area?

First I tried selling you the Port Authority wrecker, now I'm offering the older versions of the CCC spreaders ahaha. From penn-hazle equipment for only $12,500:

"1991 Crane Carrier tandem axle, L-10 Cummins, Allison Auto (700 series),central hyd.Swenson 17 Ft. spreaders. The speaders have a full size tail gate and reversing valve.Trucks have plow hitch. Miles are 15,000-25,000. These were municipal trucks."

Brookfield also had a bunch of these units up for sale, as well as older NYC sanitation equipment.
