When to call a Mayday

6 posts in this topic

Found this article, it seems like a good read. How many departments have radios with emergency buttons? Any feedback or advice on this subject by some of the experienced members/instructors would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced for your help.

I feel this type of training is important and we don't do enough of it. I like the fact the instructors would not give an out to the firefighters an out when they were trapped as it forced them to signal a may-day.

It is difficult to operate some portables wirh gloves on. I think a fireground portable should be limited to an "on-off/A-B-C" arrangement, with large easy to use controls.

Only one I know of is City of Poughkeepsie FD, I'm not sure if they still have them.
