Brewster (Putnam) -Working Fire 11-1-04

5 posts in this topic

Mill Plain (Danbury CT Volunteer Company)E-12 which served as a hose truck and laid 1000' of 5" hose. (Unfortunately it wasn't near the scene).

Can anyone enlighten us with specifics on this?

I can think of at least two other occasions that this has happened, once in Somers in the mid '90s where a perfect lay of 5" was achieved and more recently (within the last couple of years) in Croton where there was an unexpected hose lay on Route 9.

1000' of 5" laid down route 6 near Dingle Ridge Rd. Nice and straight. Engine hit a bump and you know what happens. Hose was picked up by FF on Engine and a few bystanders and they continued to the fire.

Something similar happened to a Patterson engine going to a parade (Bedford or South Salem)several years ago on I-684.

Just for the record....

Picking up the 5" hose in the Croton incident SUCKED!

I was a Junior Member at the time, so it was only natural for the "real firemen" to "volunteer me" for the job.

But it did come out nice and straight. I think it was in 1995, not 100% sure. Maybe CFD320 can remember, after all, it was his rig. 8-[

I remember a nice picture in the Journal News of the Route 9 hose lay.

Very straight indeed. ;->
